If it's a really strong telepath. And this one is pretty much a whopper. I suspect the Oracle doesn't really have a mind that thinks in a straight line as it is.

[Pause, because he's realizing. He's always had an inkling about Kay's origins; even if the 'Agent' part weren't a dead giveaway, there were other signs... he'd been thinking CIA, FBI. But it's something different, isn't it?

After cutting himself off, Sherlock starts to laugh: a low, bitter chuckle.]

Oh, God, no, don't tell me. You're from some type of secret division. The sort conspiracy nuts can never prove exist. You're actually it, aren't you?

[Of all the things that Kay responds to, or rather avoids discussing because he's still saying what he needs to out of some sense of dutiful decorum, this is the part that he hones in on.]

I can help you with the cigarette. I still got a pack and a half left.

[Probably some things that he could say, but it sounds like the poor guy has enough on his mind. Literally.]

I'll ask around and see what I can do about the surprise look-sees.

What could you possibly do about it? You haven't got superpowers? [He's pretty sure not, but then again, he's not entirely sure, so it comes out more like a question.]

Those guys in the domes were human as they get, and they managed to hand our asses to us gift-wrapped.

I'm a firm believer in seeing where talking gets you. Like I said, I'll ask around.
