[Video] Saturday: Week 77

[Bruce is taking a rare break in Tony and Pepper's apartment, helping himself to a cup of tea in the kitchen. There are a bunch of notes spread out on the table, so it's not a real break, but it's as close as he gets.]

Before I...disappeared, I offered to lecture on various topics that might be useful to people here, regardless of where or when they come from. I used to teach physics several years ago, but I could also cover things like engineering, first aid, gardening, chemistry and biology, etc. Whatever you'd like to learn about. And obviously I don't know everything, so people would be welcome to do lectures of their own.

Sorry I haven't managed to find a new place yet; it's still on my list of things to do. Maybe before I leave next weekend...Bones and I are going to offer medical assistance to the bandits, so maybe they won't feel the need to raid the hospital.

I might have a solution for your satellite problem.

I'd like to learn anything offered. I'm not sure I could teach classes in it, but if anyone already has an understanding in either Ancient Greek writing or cryptography, I could give lessons in Themysciran writing, or at least create a basic guide.

[She includes a scan of a page from her journal, which is full of very, very tiny pictographic script in different colours of ink]

This one page contains about the equivalent of six pages of English writing. I find it to be a very useful form of shorthand.

On top of the combat lessons I give, I could also offer teachings in meditation and the philosophy of my people.

I'd only be useful with that one language, but I've been told it takes an understanding of either Greek or cryptography to study it beyond basic writing. My friend Etta back home had volumes of notes on the subject of Themysciran writing, she was determined to find a way to use it in intelligence work somehow.

As for meditation, if you've ever practiced Tai Chi, my people have a few forms very similar incorporating movement and forms originally based in martial arts that you may be interested in.

We have a... unique history. Most of our culture and philosophy, as a result stems from building peace from the ashes of war and enslavement.

Well, from come across in my previous... multiversal interactions, [there is a slightly, slightly pained tone to that one, there's a reason back home anything involving the Multiverse tends to get deemed a Crisis] my people are often a constant in Greek mythology, even if the actual... ah... details get very skewed by Man's World.

Themyscira is home to the Amazons. I'm sure you'd find our culture quite interesting, we've only very recently, in historical terms, opened up communication with the rest of the world.

Seal off an island of immortal women-warriors in paradise for fifteen hundred years or so, and you get some very interesting works of art, poetry, philosophy... [and then, as an afterthought] and some recipes for wine that would knock Dionysus on his ass. There was almost an international incident when my mother sent a case of that to congratulate the royal family of some small country or another on the birth of their granddaughter. They thought she had tried to poison them.

My home reality is kind of... prone to incursions with alternate versions of itself.

We once fought a version of my friend who was mad at us for not being like the versions of us who he grew up reading in his comic books. It would have been laughable if not for the carnage.

You... you really don't want to know about the cartoon animals.
