[As someone with a ship of her own (before she got here, anyway), Shepard can appreciate that. Back on topic, though:]

I just figured that when we did find new places to migrate, we wouldn't be so quick to advertise them.

[She shakes her head.] It's not that important. [Shepard stands up now, brushing the dirt and whatever else off her hands.]

I actually wanted to talk to you about the meeting.

[Yep, Kirk's one of the people she trusts to be 'in the loop', not that she's going to come out and say it.]

More specifically, any thoughts you had. Ideas, agreements, objections, suspicions...

I know a lot of people held their tongues at the meeting. Weren't sure who to trust. So I figured I'd talk to you one-on-one.

[She's not sure what to say there. Most people would say something along the 'sorry to hear that' lines, but that's not how she works.

After a few seconds:]

Do you need anything?

[To help him sound less like shit.]

Appreciated.

Have you got any thoughts on the strategics we tossed around? ['We' meaning 'the whole group', not just she and Vegeta.]

You getting all protective now?

[She flashes Shepard an amused and maybe even affectionate grin.]

They knew where we were all along. The Flop isn't any safer. This way? At least I can see them coming.

[He nods, thinking fairly quickly.]

The early warning system is a good idea. We would need some sort of sentry, and the ability to rig up an alarm system in the immediate area.

Staying on the move is... probably not desirable. We'd be too separated, too far apart. We're too few in number and don't have a secure manner of communication.

We'd need radios, but without knowing what frequencies are being monitored, that won't do us any good.

[He's still getting used to the concept of things being subtle. At least he's given up on trying to attack the dome again, though.]

[The corner of Shepard's mouth twitches in suppressed amusement of her own.] You gave me an armory. It's the least I can do. [Part of an armory, anyway, but that's not the point.]

Alright, alright, I'll leave your bachelor pad alone. I was actually here to ask about the meeting.

[A pause, and she's stepping back to settle leaning slightly against a counter/wall/idek something.] I know a lot of people didn't quite speak their full minds, with that many people they didn't know for sure that they could trust.

So I wanted to ask if you had any thoughts that you didn't bring up at the time. Ideas, agreements, objections, people aside from the Charleses that you're not sure we can trust.

So what it all comes down to, then, is we need to set up untapped communications methods and find somewhere secure and discreet to bunker down and fortify. Agree or disagree?

Agreed.

[the answer is instinctive] No, I'm - [but it would be utterly transparent, and quite counterproductive]

Actually, I could do with a distraction. It ought to be safe to explore by now, don't you think?

[Jim nods, grateful they can skate over the displays of the last week.]

It's understandable. But also a fact that if someone us don't start trusting others, we won't be able to accomplish anything. [He sighs.] Basically, I'm inclined to give people here the benefit of the doubt. There's no one I've met here so far--no one from the ship, I mean--who I'd suspect of not wanting to get out of here like anybody else. With that in mind, it'll be hard to pool the resources of so many disparate parties. But we're going to have to get organized, or we risk holes, as well as overlap of effort. My personal opinion? Groups be formed to take on specific tasks. Broken down by what people are good at and led by people who can coordinate the efforts. Having a group for food procurement, investigation into the ship, the domes and the Authority, outreach for the city dwellers. Aid for those who need it. We're all in this together, is my view. And we're stronger than apart.

[Ohhhh yes, there will definitely be skating going on. She has plenty of stuff she's not proud of, either, so if he doesn't bring it up, she most definitely won't.

She listens to his opinions, taking them in, thinking already on how to integrate them with her own. Which isn't so hard--she was having a lot of the same thoughts, herself.

But first:]

I've got some pretty solid reasons to believe that at least one person at the meeting is reporting in some way back to the Authorities. I don't know who, or necessarily even any kind of motive. I know a few people it's not--you're one of them. That's why I got in touch.

[A pause, and she shakes her head.]

Before we can solidify any sort of plans, I need to figure out who that is. Otherwise, every move we make will go right back to the enemy, and then nobody's safe.

[She has an idea on how to handle this, but she's not going to say it. Not yet, anyway. She wants to hear what he thinks, first.]

[oh, he's just beaming at her, and it shows in his voice] Any bits of the city you'd like to visit?

[Stop that, it's awkward.] South-west it is, then.

Shepard doesn't reply. Instead, she's heading for the aforementioned ship. Feel free to see her coming, she's not trying to be stealthy by any means.]

[the Doctor head outside to wait, leaning against the doors with his hat in his hands; he considers whistling jauntily, but decides against it

he does smile warmly when he sees her coming, though, and pushes away from the comforting, solid warmth of his ship]

Hello, Commander. How have you been?

[She's stopping a few feet away.] I'm sane again, if that says anything.

[He shakes his head.]

Our best bet would be looking for a scrapyard.

We'd have to have it be a small party. Less suspicion, that way. Two, three people at most.

[Dylan arrives with Rhade not long after. He scans the diner and looks at the appliances that have evidently caught Shepard's interest.]

Thinking of trying to get them to work, or do you have something else in mind?

[Rhade follows Dylan in, quirking a brow at what she was looking at. But he's not going to offer to help- not so much because he isn't interested, but because he's reasonably sure he'll break something.]
