[I hope none of you were tired of new faces yet, because here's another very new face for your enjoyment! This one, however, might not be what you're all used to.

The person holding the communicator at roughly arm's length is obviously a young man -- from the general build of his body, shoulders, and face, he can't be any older than 17 years. He certainly has a very... unique appearance to boot, though for some reason the jacket is tied around his waist instead of him actually wearing it. While the purpose behind this isn't clear, it does mean he's standing half-naked and apparently unbothered by that fact, meaning anyone watching the video can see he has far, far more scars snaking up and around his arms and shoulders than any teenager should have.]

This shit again? Who the hell is it this time? What the fuck did I do to upset your precious plans now?

[His tone is aggressive and angry; this is clearly not the first time he's been whisked off from his home, it seems, but he's not exactly the paragon of calm, rational thinking at the moment.]

[his tone is gentle, expression sympathetic] I doubt that will help your situation overmuch - our situation, really.

[It doesn't help -- Akira's seen false sympathy enough that he isn't buying it, especially at a distance.]

Why the hell not? Last time this happened, we went after the guy that pulled us in in the first place and solved it.

I'm afraid the predicament is a bit more complex than that. We don't know who masterminded this abduction, or why. We've landed amidst a bitter conflict, and we aren't welcome. Not by the Outer Authorities, at any rate, and they've the upper hand.

Outer what now?

[He's had the good luck to not run into them, it seems. He grunts a little though, seemingly calming, if just slightly.]

What the hell else is new.

So nothing happened in your home? No weird guy with a weird name, like Odio? Or Odeo?

[his lips quirk, just slightly] Outer Authorities. They come from the domed city - you might have caught a glimpse of the dome, there's a bit of a blue glow to it.

[he shakes his head] I didn't, but I wasn't on the ship with most of the others - I crashed here. From what I can gather, though, nothing particular odd prefaced many of the abductions.

[He gives a look somewhere off camera -- yeah, he can see it pretty clearly. It's hard to miss.

He glances back after a moment, looking concerned.]

That's... different.

[That's the best he can manage, but he looks confused. He thought he had it figured out, and yet...

Well.]

Guess they can't all make it as easy as Odio did.

[He seems... surprisingly unconcerned, all things considered.]

Please do not taunt the Authorities. We are not yet in a position to protect the others if they rise to your challenge.

I wasn't tauntin' 'em.

[But he's stopped as requested, mostly because of the "protect others" part. And without any sass, too!]

[that's a bit surprising - and intriguing, too] This clearly isn't the first time you've awoken in a strange place.

Second time. Last time I just sorta walked through darkness to get there instead of waking up in a pod.

[with a thoughtful nod] Interesting.

Even if it's a different situation, the experience may come in useful.

If it's anything like before, yeah.

[To be honest, Akira... really can't tell. Everything here is unfamiliar and he seems to have just taken a seat wherever there was one available for him... namely, a rock.]

Regardless, I can at least assure you that you needn't face this alone.

[That makes Akira hesitate a moment. Oh, he had no problems accepting help -- hell, it was only because he had help that he got back home the first time -- but the indirect offer makes him a little uncomfortable. Years of distrust, and all.

So after a while of silence, he'll finally offer:]

Yeah?

[...and that's about it.]

[he's heard that sort of silence before, from people who've learned it's safer not to trust, and he looks very sad, for a moment]

Yes.

I'm known as the Doctor.

[He notices that look, red eyes flickering a little with something unreadable.

Still... no harm in exchanging names, even it his seems like a title. It's not like his name means anything.]

Akira.

[he smiles, faint but warm] It's a pleasure to meet you, Akira. I only wish it could be under different circumstances.

It ain't like I haven't been in worse.

[He's kind of tired of standing out here, actually...]

I'm guessing there are other people 'round here, too? Is there a city somewhere?

[He assumes there are others, at least -- the Doctor sounded like he was speaking of multiple people -- and even an empty village is some sort of shelter.]

There is, yes! Not dreadfully far from the ship. They call it the Old City. It's a bit ravaged, but there'a decent population there.

Much of it lives in underground shelters, but there's a place that accommodates new arrivals on the surface.

[Huh. Surprisingly organized and -- well, living. That'll work.]

Alright. I'll look for it.

[The communicator is shoved into Akira's pocket, clicked off -- though whether he had intended it to be or not remains up for debate.

It isn't hard to find him when he stumbles into Old City -- a teenager with fairly gravity defying hair and without a shirt tends to stand out, especially since Akira's wearing his jacket normally now. He's looking around for the Doctor, though he seems quite a bit lost.]

That's not how they might perceive it. [He frowns.]

They have not had a record of being reasonable. [Today's special: Understatement.]

[He could argue, but hell, he knows how things are. He doesn't exactly want to bring down death and destruction on innocent people, so he stays quiet. He may not like the fact that Wing has a point, but he'll at least accept it.

...speaking of which, you might be able to tell that he's examining you fairly carefully, there, Wing.]

[The silence is distressing. Wing realizes he may have come across a bit...harshly. He'd probably sounded like Dai Atlas.]

[It was a distressing thought.]

I am sorry for my tone. We are under a great deal of pressure here, from a variety of sources. But it does not excuse my actions.

[He tilts his head, feeling the other studying him. He gives a tentative smile.] I am Wing, and I wish I could welcome you to a better place.
