This is Gaheris Rhade and I've returned from a brief scouting expedition- [and he adds because Dylan had announced his alone-time.] -after unexpected delay. [Unexpected delays being a lot on his mind and curiosity about anything remotely dangerous.] Does anyone know anything about the body of water that used to be where the Wasteland now is?

I can't determine much. [Other than there was a dome in the middle of it. A lit dome. And he highly suspects it's the cause of that body of water being gone.]

Perhaps this is a very typical inquiry, but what have I missed?


*OOC: I need a way to break off the end of a boneblade for Loki's plot and am open to ideas, accidental and purposeful for ingredients.

[Starbuck's not used to hugs. They always feel...like more than she's prepared for, even if she ultimately wants them. Rhade's hug makes her feel awkward, as if the kiss didn't already do it. She pulls away, moving to touch the sculpture he has in his room.]

Hunt might not be from your reality, you know that, right? Even if it's already happened for him, it doesn't mean that you do the same thing in your own timeline.

It's complicated. If I manage to return I'll have options I didn't have before. [He sits down on the floor, sliding down to it with his back against the wall.]

I've been trying to warn Dylan about a coming attack. Trying to lead him into finding out in a way that won't get me killed by either side... [He's quiet.] According to him, he doesn't realize what's happening until it's too late. So right now, I don't know. Just that I have to do something- bother here and there.

Water would be fine. [Water has been his friend for the last few days. He crosses his legs and shifts to where he can see her fireplace.]

The Wasteland used to be a lake. Then one of the domes managed to monopolize the water table. Now it's only populated by scavengers and poisonous predators.

I see you are returned. Your subordinate, a Dylan Hunt, was searching for you. Has he returned as well?

[That actually gets a laugh out of him. Because he knows what reaction Dylan's going to have.] I'm actually his subordinate. The circumstances were... unusual. I had been making regular scouting expeditions, but I didn't expect this one to take so long.

He did. He found me as I was returning and we arrived back in the city together.

The entire ecosystem has been completely destroyed. There is no means to support life outside of scavenging and hunting life forms that have gone astray.

[She doesn't like seeing Rhade so rattled. Instinctively, she moves to sit down next to him. Words of comfort have never been her strong suit, so she just offers her presence, her side pressing lightly against his.]

Had to be hard, trying to get that message through. But I get it, feeling like you have to do something about it.

Nietzsche said to accept your choices and your acts as decisions that you've learned from. I can do the same with ones that I haven't made yet, if I understand the circumstances.

Escape is still a priority, though... I would like to know that the local population would survive for more than a few generations after our departure. After having observed the Wasteland, I'm not sure.

I don't know what brought him out, but unless there is some sort of medical miracle, it will be fatal.

Unfortunately medicine wasn't part of my studies. [Beyond more efficient ways to kill people.] Though perhaps I could seek him out and speak with him anyhow.
