[Video] Early Saturday

[The screen flickers on to show an annoyed, ruffled, white-haired young man, clearly standing right outside the spaceship. The image is in focus and right-side up, even. Somebody knew what a video phone was. He brushes some hair back into place with quick fingers before speaking, his voice irritated instead of scared or worried.]

What the hell, man? Think you coulda warned me, huh?

[He scowls at the screen - clearly, a reply that's not instantaneous isn't quick enough]

Hellooo, Magneto? Cut the mysterious crap and get with the program! This another one of your tests? What more do I need to prove, huh?

No. It ain't.

[Todd gives him a funny look, not sure why he would know all about Magneto's other hide-outs. He sure doesn't.]

It's some other world, or somethin'. I ain't met any other mutants here, but I ain't met a lot of people, neither. They're all kinda weird, ya know? And there's this war or somethin' with the people in that big dome thing.

[He jerks a thumb over his shoulder in its direction.]

Those're th'people who keep track of what goes on, on those phones, so you're not s'pposed to talk about anythin' important there.

[There, see? He found out all sorts of things!]

[Nope, sorry, this one you're going to be stuck with. Your responsibility. Or, well, alternate-you's responsibility.]

Alright, fine. Let's pretend I believe you.

[Because everyone else seems to be on board the crazy train, too]

You're a mutant too, huh? Well, I do know how to take care of myself, thankyouverymuch!

It's pointless. Never gonna happen.

But I guess I don't know anyone who can do that, no.

[If he's going to pretend the interdimensional thing is true]

...wouldn't put it past SHIELD, though.

[That last comment is under his breath]

[Pietro doesn't know what to make of all these ridiculous stories people are telling him. He throws his free hand up in the air]

Fine! Fine, I'll go along with this crazy story. At least until I find what's really going on around here.

[Especially since sticking him in stasis on a spaceship without his say-so isn't something he'd put past Magneto]

So we're just stuck here? Great. And I though Bayville was bad.

There are other mutants.

[He gestures at the communicator, smirking. Doesn't hurt to remind Toad that he's good.]

So what does everyone do? Sounds like those losers are asking for some trouble, to me. And... weird? Was this ship some sort of freak holding facility? Oooh, if they were trying to get rid of us, I've got some things I'd like to say to them!

Not with that attitude, certainly.

[She catches it, and her eyes widen slightly. That - might confirm similar worlds.] I'd hope SHIELD would have better ways to spend its time.

[She knows SHIELD? He can't decide if that's a good thing or a bad thing.]

Last I knew, they had a few more pressing issues to deal with, yeah.

[Like trying to contain the damage after his father ~~and him~~ outed mutants to the world]

You know SHIELD?

[can't he just pass him off to some other poor schmuck?]

And if they manage to subdue your abilities, what then? You'll be a sitting duck.

I know of them. A new military agency, specialising in espionage. [And her eyebrow arches.] And one not known of by many people, never mind children.

[Who's crazy enough to want to deal with Pietro?]

Ah, ah, ah! They'd have to catch me, first. And noooo way is that gonna happen.

[Subdue? That sounds... ominous.]

Why do you care, anyway? Just because I'm a mutant, too?

[Everyone he knows would throw him to the wolves if it meant furthering their own agenda.]

I'm not a child!

[Because whining totally proves that point]

And that sounds right. Though they're not that new, if that Trask jerk is any indication. You don't whip up giant, mutant-hunting robots overnight.

[This is her sceptical face, Pietro.

...And this is her horrified face.]

Giant -

[Her eyes narrow, and her voice lowers.]

Just how giant are they? How many are there? What can they do?

[She's trying to ignore that raw, wretched voice in the back of her mind taunting "Ada was right".]

Yeah, apparently this guy got most of his work on the Sentinels done on SHIELD's dime.

[He doesn't know as much about the agency as he's pretending to]

Don't know how many there are, but one sure gave the X-geeks one hell of a time!

[Pietro grins at the memory, then frowns. Then looks a bit confused.]

But you should know that, since it was all over the news and everything. Mutants, exposed? Kinda hard to miss.

Exposed? [She stares at him for a moment, before shaking her head.]

What year is it, for you?

2002. Why, when're you from?

[Is that why she's familiar? Does he know her as an older woman? Somehow, time travel is way easier for him to accept than interdimensional travel and alternate realities.]

...Ah. [Well, that does explain - very little, actually. It's nice to know they reach another millenium, at least.] 1956.

Right. So you get a sneak preview, I guess. Just who're you supposed to be, anyway?

[Because this is taking too long, and he hates beating around the bush.]

If you know about SHIELD and mutants and all.

I suppose I do. [She rests her chin on her hands, grimly pensive. It's a bleaker future than she'd hoped, but - all the more reason for her to return somehow, isn't it?]

My name is Jocelyn Xavier. I've been a scholar, a soldier, and a psychologist thus far - and I am a mutant.

And yourself?

[Upon hearing the name, Pietro does some quick mental math. Sibling? Cousin?]

Huh. Don't know a Charles Xavier, do you? Never know where one of ol' baldy's relatives is going to pop up.

[Because he finds it almost funny that the big goody-goody had his own step-brother locked up]

You can call me Quicksilver.

[this is what blackmail is for. or xaviers.

he seems entirely unimpressed by his reply at first. there are always ways of capturing those with powers, within cities like these and back home. and from the sounds of it, this planet is better equipped that bete noire ever was.]

It's my duty to watch over the mutants here, whether they want it or not.

[and yes, it really is that simple, as far as he's concerned.]

...You know Charles. How well? [This just got complicated - ]

Quicksilver? [Her lips twitch, just slightly.]

All right, then.

Not well. The boss-man and he don't exactly get along.

[And maybe he shouldn't say anymore. She seems like someone who'd side more with Xavier and the X-men than Magneto]

Uh-huh. Well, do whatever you want, I guess. Just don't think I'm gonna owe you for anything I didn't ask for, got it? I sure as hell don't need a babysitter, mutant or otherwise.

This Magneto, I - [Her eyes widen again, and then...she raises a hand to her face, pinching the bridge of her nose.] Please don't tell me it's Erik.

Then I suppose it's just as well I'm not here to "babysit" anybody.

[nope. still leaving that to the others.]
