As if the invasion wasn't enough. Though somehow, I think these guys are different. I just hope they're not Loki's allies, too.

[Then he pauses, glancing around the ship, which he's still standing in.] I'm going to see what I can figure out about this technology....maybe I can get things working again. If anyone I know is out there, please let me know you're all right.

For anyone else who might be listening...can you tell me anything about this place? Where is it, and who's in charge? I'd like to speak to them. At least, if they can understand English. If not, I guess I'll have to pick up another language.

More than understandable. In that case, just find some place you like and claim it as your own. The number of people in the city is in the low thousands, so there's a lot of abandoned infrastructure.

[Her momentary chagrin fades as she steps back onto more steady ground.]

I have my training in archaeology, although I do have some experience with engineering and electronic security. [She smiles briefly, and not a little wryly.] And field medicine. Formerly-inhabited worlds draw a remarkable number of scavengers.

Engineering is something I have some experience with, too...though I'll admit I don't know much about archaeology. ...Are you working at the hospital, too?

I've heard of the Higgs particle, but it hasn't been discovered yet, no. Are you saying it will be?

How so, specifically? "The mind" could mean a lot of things.

Well, you're more familiar with her than I was...I only knew of her because Tony Stark mentioned her to me.

I'm Bruce, by the way. Dr. Bruce Banner.

Two of my other doctorates are in psychology and psychiatry. [After a moment, she smiles wryly.] That...has little bearing on what I'm doing currently, however.

[She's so accustomed to hiding, but it makes little difference here, and she's played her hand enough that it doesn't truly matter.]

I can influence minds. It comes in useful, in the absence of sedatives and pain medication.

[he's wary, now] When you say you can influence minds...do you mean to imply that you have psychic abilities?

[Bruce is impressed, but also nervous.] If you can control it, please don't enter my mind. You won't like what you find there.

[He's grinning, now.] My people have been traversing time for centuries. We're known as Time Lords. [A beat.] We're just a tad full of ourselves, on the whole.

[An earnest nod.] Yes, early in 2013. It will - no, I probably shouldn't say. [His smile turns sheepish.] I really just wanted a reference point.

[Somehow, Bruce is not surprised that Steve studied art.] A variety of topics in physics, mostly. My own areas of study were nuclear physics and biochemistry.

[The bleak smile shifts into something more reassuring.] But I do not, generally speaking, enter minds without permission. You needn't worry.
