[Audio | 004: Back in the Saddle] Thursday, Week 11
This is an open broadcast, so I'm not going into too many specifics, but I'm taking a trip back to the port town to make some shipping arrangements. This will be a much lighter and faster trip than the last one, as we'll be going on horseback.
Assuming that I don't doom us all with my equestrian skills, I could use a couple people interested in coming along as outriders -- you should be able to ride and capable of defending yourself and, um, me, if it comes down to it. Bring small goods if you're interested in trading for goods or supplies in a more varied market -- like the Old City, the port town functions on a barter economy rather than a currency-based one.
[SO HEY, Pepper's going to try and make arrangements to get a grain shipment for the Old City, since the crops aren't too awesome right now. This isn't a full-on plot like last time, just a little thing what can be done. Bruce-mun's already on board with this, but I could use one more person if you're interested! Got my second person! But Pepper's likely to be making a lot more trips, so if not this time for people, then certainly future. (Or she can set you up to go in your own group too!)]

[Audio:]
Especially since I felt very close to needing its services after the crash-course in horses I somehow agreed to...
[Audio]
[Since it was something like a week last time, right? He is a bit fuzzy on what day the caravan left.]
Is there anything in particular you'd like me to focus my attention on here, while you're gone?
Re: [Audio]
I think we've mostly got the backlog of files cleared now. Just keep everyone marching in the same direction, and keep an ear out for any new developments on the food supply situation.
[Audio forevs]
[This paying attention to necessities instead of letting a butler take care of it is definitely a new sensation, but he's getting used to it. He even adds, sounding a little amused:]
You know, with the backlog is mostly clear and a clear organization in place, I suppose it is a good thing you are leaving us for a few days. Between the two of us, we may actually run out of the paperwork. Then what will we do?
no subject
[She laughs briefly at his question.]
Well, I guess we either follow the dark path of every bureaucracy and generate more paperwork to keep busy... or we take the opportunity to explore interesting bits of the city and see what's there. Which will undoubtedly generate more paperwork to catalogue and reassign anything found.

[There's a moment of hesitation, before he continues, with a little chagrin.]
I suppose I had best brush up on my cartography. I've been doing quite a bit of exploring on my own time, but I didn't even consider charting it all down.
no subject
It would be good to have more of the surrounding territory filled in. First step to dealing with the security issues, I'd say.
no subject
[He's already thinking on how best to set about mapping things. Maybe he needs some kind of pack he can carry as a wolf, with writing utensils... it's a thought.]
no subject
[Svelte Pepper might still make a good chew toy, after all.]
Let me know if you need help assembling anything. And I will, of course, have my communicator with me while I'm away.
no subject
[And as his thinking continues, something else occurs to him: that if Miss Potts is going to be gone in a few days, he'd best get some other tasks attended to first.]
I may not be in at the hospital tonight, or not for very long if I do. I think I may take Chime hunting tonight. He doesn't seem to know how to go about it very well yet, at least not without making something of a mess. I'm not sure how long we'll be out.
no subject
Besides, we don't want to run out of paperwork too quickly, right? Best to pace yourself.
no subject
Yes, of course. Before I'm relegated to that cartography project entirely. Don't worry about Chime, though. I will be keeping an eye on him.
[And a nose, and probably a paw. The pup's well-being is officially one of his concerns, now.]
no subject
Do you want me to look for anything while I'm in the port town? Signs of any supplies you might need in future?
no subject
I do hope so. I can't think of anything off-hand that I might need from the port town, that I can't find for myself here, unless paper somehow becomes in short supply, but I will think on it and let you know if I come up with anything, thank you.
