[Natasha's dealt with some strange things in the last few days, but waking up a space ship is probably the weirdest. the disorientation is frustrating, but she works through it, quickly finding her things before examining the pod she'd woken in, twisting her phone around in her hands before turning it on and speaking]

I'm looking for a Clint Barton and Nick Fury. Preferably intact and as soon as possible.

[she's all ready beginning to browse through the network it hooks to, gathering what intel she can as she starts making her way through the ship]

Alien spaceships, prehistoric worlds, giant cities and dinosaurs. Anything else I should know? If this is another one of Loki's games, I'd like advanced warning this time.

[and she steps out of the ship to finally see the world herself, going still a moment, lips pressed tight and head tilting to the side]

Yeah, definitely not Earth.

Ja, I also scored a B+ average last semester and make pretty good waffles.

Uh, well... I'm an upperclassman now.

[And hey, that was his highest GPA since he's started, what with the English language occasionally getting away from him and all the humanities courses grounded in a foreign cultural context.]

[she's just grateful this is audio so he can't see her eyeroll]

Well, if Fury thinks you're worth it, I guess it doesn't matter. [even if she doesn't always agree with his decisions]

It's not like we were a first choice, and Mr. Logan usually chases him off, I guess. That's stuff Scott and Jean usually hear about, I think, but the rest of us are out of the loop until right before everything blows up, usually.

[she has no idea who any of those people are]

Are any of them here?

Sort of. There are a couple people who were in the Apocalypse fight, but not yet for them. I guess they're from a little ways in my past. When the world wasn't about to explode we usually spent time throwing things at each other at lunch.

So the ones here, they're teenagers like you?

The ones I knew back home are. None of the teachers seem to have showed up, or not the ones I remember.

[He's as confused by that as anyone.]

What do you mean, not the ones you remember?

Oh! Wonderbar, you didn't hear this part yet. People come here from different times and different, um, worlds. The people I do know haven't had things happen to them yet that are old news for me, and there are people with names I know who seem like they came from a whole different version of my life.

People remain people, and political systems political.

[Pepper's agreement is a little crookedly delivered, laced with wry amusement at the state of the world.]

As for the Authorities, the 'how' is something to keep off the comms, I'd imagine. The 'what' is your standard enforcer-type military police. They keep order within their dome, and also respond to anything outside of it that they deem a threat. Everything from stampeding dinosaurs to stray curiosity-seekers. Get too close, they shoot, and 'too close' can be a shifting concept. I personally keep my distance, but I, um, have a different skillset than you do.

[she just lets this sink in, a frown etched on her face] Like Fury. I've never known mine to work with teenagers. Same name, different person?

[He'll just let that "teenagers" comment go.]

That's pretty much it. We've even got more than one of the same person.

It's almost boring.

[hmmm. this is the sort of thing she feels most comfortable with. dictators and despots? and least that she understands]

Sounds like it's worth investigating.

Where did you say you were? It's been too long since we talked. [particularly about overthrowing possible threats]

I don't suppose there's another me running around somewhere, then?

I don't think so? But I guess I might not know. I haven't been here that long. And it could be older you or younger you or... Lots of options, here.

Oh, come on. Force of impact at terminal velocity for a spaceship the length of Manhattan - that's an easy one.

[The flippancy doesn't really do anything to hide just how pissed off he still is at this entire situation.]

It's not the Chitauri. Even though Rudolph was apparently here playing his reindeer games for a while before any of us showed up.

As for the why, I'm pretty sure we were never supposed to end up here. We're still looking for the black box.

[she rubs her forehead] I'll deal with it if it comes up.

Extinction event, you mean?

[she lets him talk, filing it away]

That doesn't explain why we were on the ship in the first place, or who it was that took us. [or the time discrepancies, if her talking to others is any indication]

I know it'd freak me right out.

[That's right, Kurt, commiserate with the SHIELD lady.]

That depends on how useful she'd be, I suppose.
