[There's a kind of nervous-looking Toad on the network today. He's obviously flustered by something or another, but knowing him, that could be anything from Outer Authorities to an unplanned encounter with a bar of soap.]

Yo, guys! Where the heck are ya? I've been lookin' everywhere for you guys! Edmund's takin' people outa town, I wanna get goin' and you three'd better come along, a'right?

[Yeah, so this is wide-open to everybody. It's not really all that clear who he's talking to, but probably the people he's actually talking to can guess he means them. Probably. Maybe? He hopes?]

[That gives Todd a bit of a pause, too. If he can help his friends by leaving... but how could he do that? He explains, a bit reluctantly,]

There's a couple guys here who're from the same, uh, version of Earth I'm from. They're both sick.

[Bruce sighs and switches to video. He looks and sounds terrible.]

I would offer my mattress and blanket, but I'm afraid you'd only catch the disease from using them.

[Oh hey, sick dude. Todd looks vaguely disturbed by the sight of him, mostly just because it makes him think of Kurt and Pietro, not because he feels bad for Bruce.]

Uh, thanks, man, but I'm cool. I got stuff I can use.

[ well that sucks. ]

I'm sorry. But what can you do for them sitting here? Worry? Won't help. Maybe there are answers outside, maybe not. Won't know til we try.

[Just where Kirk's getting this idea that they'd be leaving to help, Todd isn't sure, but he has to agree sitting around and worrying-- and being yelled at by Pietro-- isn't going to help anything, either.]

I dunno if that's what Emund's all about, ya know. I don't think he's really much of a research-y, medical-y sort of guy. But I guess he might be meeting somebody, or somethin'....

[ Well JIM'S reason for leaving isn't necessarily EDMUND'S reason for leaving. But Jim hates sitting around doing nothing, so he rationalized it best he could. Now he's trying to make someone - even if that's Todd - see it his way. [

Well, fuck Edmund, it's not like we can't look around on our own.

[For a moment Todd looks taken aback by the language-- he's from a kids show, he's not used to that kind of talk!-- but he blinks and moves on after a beat. He looks uncertain, but he'll go with it. He's always good with a little rationalization.]

I guess. I mean, if you think there's somethin' we can do.

[ Jim's used to getting looks for his mouth so he never skips a beat. ]

There's always something. I don't believe in giving up.

I totally believe in giving up. We usually lose, anyway, so there's usually not a lot of point.

[Rare moment of honesty from the Toad, there. Savor it, Jimmy-boy.]

But I guess I'll go.

What the hell kind of attitude is that? Never give up. Keep fighting. I don't believe in no-win situations, and this planet isn't going to change my mind.

It's not like you'll be alone, anyway, you know.

[Wing honestly has no idea why the others seem to find Tolansky odd. He's never been anything but friendly to Wing.]

[He moves off, smoothly.]

So what is Edmund doing? Are you going exploring?

[Clinging easily to Wing's jet-self back, fingers tucked into crevices and toes wedged securely in place, Todd answers-- loudly over the sound of wind and/or engines-- once he's settled.]

We're, uh, going off somewhere where we won't get sick, mostly, I think. I don't know what plans other than that he's got.
