[Before the image comes on, a few words can be heard]

Oh, the commlinks here have visual, that's a step up.

[And then the video kicks in showing a man wearing an extremely garish orange flightsuit, made even more offensive to the eye by the addition of an extremely colourful cloak over top. The colours seem to be shifting.]

Okay, so woke up here naked. That's a new one. I'm going to take a wild guess and say this is another case of interdimensional strangeness.

[Or downloading completely wrong?]

How am I doing so far? I could use a sitrep.

[There's a pause while Wing ratchets down his optical filters. Because. That cloak. o_O]

More like kidnapping, I'm afraid.

[Ashley isn't sure whether the cloak or the flight suit is more terrifying.]

And right now, we're all wishing they'd left that off.

Interdimensional strangeness is about right. If you just woke up, there's a town not far to the south of the ship. Bit more comfortable place to sit while getting the rundown.

Well, that was my next guess.

[The feed is powered on in mid-fumble and for a moment the video is tilted and jarred awkwardly until the user can seem to get a handle on the device, seemingly out of surprise.]

[Finally, Luke's face comes into focus as he gets a hold of the device and points it at himself.]

Well, I figured everyone would appreciate it if I took a moment to put some pants on. But basically just now.

[Damn, Luke still looks young.]

Guessing there's a story there.

[Wait, what? Those have been extinct since]

They make the Batarian Hegemony look friendly.

[There's a brief pause as she catches herself.]

Which probably doesn't mean anything to you. Heavily-armed aggressive isolationists. They patrol out to about two clicks from the dome, and they don't really bother with asking questions ever.

There was a stampede a while back, through the Old City.

But I haven't seen any around recently.

[Luke gives an exasperated laugh and pushes his hair out of his face. He looks glad to see Wes but there's that now-familiar pang of guilt that a friend is now stuck in the same hellhole.]

And uh... from Mayfield, right?

[He can only assume such since Wes looks almost exactly as he did the last Luke saw him, awkwardly ten years into Luke's future and a bit worn and torn from their experience in that godforsaken town.]

Please tell me there are no drones or sweater vests here.

[It was kinda like an answer, right?]

[His voice drips with sarcasm. Because seriously?]

Well. That's a new one. Some planets have creatures like them, but actual dinosaurs?

One of the humans told me they were definitely dinosaurs.

I could show you where I moved the carcasses? They're only bone by now, though.

[It had been an interesting lesson in organic mortality. Gross, but interesting.]

Video, audio, and text. As far as the "interdimensional strangeness" part is concerned, we're still working out where we are. And when, for that matter. The planet is called "Verdana".

But those of us who woke up on the ship like you did have come from various points across time and space.

[Luke shakes his head, mildly amused.]

Nope, not as such. Though it would have been nice if they'd provided us a whole wardrobe, ugly or otherwise. I've been doing random jobs for people to trade for clothing they've scavenged from abandoned buildings.

And uh, I'll lend you some things, otherwise you'll be spending the first week or two in the same clothes. You start to notice people keeping a clear radius around you.

Well, bone is all any living human has seen of Coruscant dinosaurs. I'm not paleontologist though.

No one from home but the two of us. And Kaylee's the only other one from Mayfield that I know of.

[Yeah, interesting would be a word for it alright.]
