[Hey, look who's found his way onto the network again! Finally! Thor is smiling cheerily, and maybe a little bit like he's going stir-crazy, at the camera on his phone. He's also not in his armor, but a rather nice blue tunic with some gold embellishments. Somebody did some shopping while across the ocean.]

At last, we are again in range! Hello, my friends in the Old City! It is Thor Odinson, and we are on our return trip. Apparently we will be arriving at the end of the week, but we are not to speak of that until we strike land again.

[And Thor, while a bit of an airhead, is still trying to abide by the rules.]

Have we missed anything of import? Is everyone still well? Please, regale me!

[And keep him from being bored. Please.]

Oh, many apologies, then, my lady.

[He pauses there, looking perplexed. He's never called a giant, feathery lizard a lady before. It kind of shorts his brain a little, but he recovers quickly.]

The Nine Realms. The major planet systems in the great path of the tree Yggdrasil, connected by its branches across the galaxy. It includes Asgard, where I am from, and Midgard, or Earth, as well as others.

[Her lips twitch with a smile, but she doesn't go all giggly at his words. She's used to James T. Kirk: Master Charmer, so of course she's immune.]

Of course. I was just making a joke. I've been making new friends and I have one from home here too.

[Though that does give her pause. She considers Dr. McCoy a friend, but she's not sure he considers her the same. Well, she'll just have to make sure he does soon enough.]

Either will work -- if you call him, feel free to say it's on my advice. And I'll see if I can line up a communicator for your return Oh--

[One small piece of business does occur to her, and she lifts an attention-getting finger.]

Since you're using Major Alenko's right now, can you tell him to contact me when it's safe to do so, to arrange for any transportation? We drove people down to the port when they left, so you'll need a ride back, wherever you end up.

Of Midgard and I have, indeed.

[This pleasant man doesn't look like the Thor they slew in Asgard though, similar certainly, but not the same. And the fact that he is so pleasant is rather jarring.]

I admit I am somewhat surprised to find you here of all places though. Are you unable to return to your plane or are you here by choice?

[Asshat or no if this place is so cut off that even a god cannot get back to their plane then he has even more reason to be worried.]

Everyone's fine but apparently your brother showed up and caused quite a few people to freak out.

[Yeah, Jack's not going to sugarcoat it. He's sitting on a tree branch at the moment, outside of the Old City.]

People say he's dangerous, others say he's not the same guy... I'm not sure which is which anymore but I've hung out with the guy. Your brother is pretty cool, though a lot younger than I thought he'd be. Sigyn's going out of her way to try and protect him despite hating him and Mulan and I are just trying to keep everyone else from attacking him until things are actually sorted out.

Probably time you got back.

Since we just established that he's a master illusionist, "have I seen him" probably isn't the most helpful question.

[Because he could be a dog. Or a tree. Or invisible. Or a teenager, apparently.]

Something's up. We're just trying to figure out what.

Thor Odinson? Then I take it you must be Loki's older brother. He has mentioned you...several times. I'm glad that at last we meet.

My name is Fa Mulan. Forgive me for my abruptness. But there are some matters I think we need to discuss.

[Darwin ducks her head in appreciation, hiding a grin.]

Interesting. Sounds different from the extraterrestrial theories back home, but I supposed that's nothing surprising. I always preferred keeping my sights within the atmosphere, I admit.

But there are so many more adventures to be had, beyond the bifrost.

[Of course, this wistful comment comes from a prince who grew up in a palace. He doesn't have a whole lot of adventures stuck in Asgard with tutors and guards and such.]

There are frost giants and dark elves and bilgesnipe and ice drakes... many exciting potential quests.

[Perhaps realizing she won't know what any of those mean, Thor adds,]

Do your people have space travel, then?

The bifrost was destroyed, I'm afraid. It takes prodigious energy to move between realms until it has been restored-- and the means I had used to travel to Midgard, and then to here, has traveled on without me.

[Yup, he probably has reason to be worried. Thor is pretty well stuck here. He does look fairly serious about all this, himself.]

I have hope that my father can track me down, but it may be beyond his power at the moment, especially if Loki did not arrive as anticipated, without me. He is much more important to find than I.

Oh, certainly. We may need to contact you indeed. Though... I am not supposed to speak of that now.

[He makes a face. Messing up already, despite his best intentions.]

But I will relay the message for Major Alenko. And I will greatly appreciate your aid in the matter of a communicator for the future. You are a very helpful person, my lady Potts.

I will try to find him upon my arrival... if he will let me find him. Perhaps in this place, if he has not made any pronouncements of attempting to put himself up as king, he may be more amenable to my words.

[They will be lone Asgardians trapped here, after all. With potential enemies arrayed against them both, to boot. That has to count for something.]

That is excellent news! That you know someone here who you can be friendly with.

[The funny thing is, he really does sound genuinely pleased for her. He's an earnest soul, he is, even when he's being almost-flirty.]

There are others I know here, as well, though obviously I have not seen them yet. One Tony Stark, and Clint Barton, if you have been made known to them?

[Thor's countenance droops a little at this message. Well, a little more, given by now Tony has filled him in on his side of the details.]

My brother was once a kind person, if a devious and mischievous one. If this is that person... I do not know, either. I have seen him do much that is terrible, and I am not certain how it could be another person, if he is still my brother.

But I am coming home as quickly as I can. I have very little control over the speed of this vessel, I am afraid, and leaving now to fly there is not possible, either.

[Nevermind that he has no idea where he'd be going. He'd try anyway, if he could!]

I sincerely hope you are not going to tell me there has been trouble that my brother has caused.

[All the sad puppy looks, Mulan. He's already had Tony telling him his brother is up to no good; he will be sad if someone else is going to tell him the same thing.]

[When Thor gets the communicator back from Alenko again, at this belated message, it takes him several long minutes more to reply. Because he's watching the short message over and over again. Yes, that is the spitting image of his younger brother... yes, that is his manner of speaking and even his favorite outfit as an adolescent... but it seems like it has been so very long since he's seen that Loki. A Loki who doesn't have pain behind his eyes and an anger that requires him to ruin everything around him just to get attention.

And what's worse, he's not even sure that this is that Loki, or the old Loki, or a completely different Loki. He finally replies, clearing his throat and looking somewhere between pained, wary, and apologetic.]

Loki... brother. This is not how I anticipated seeing you again, either.

It's a small city. Finding shouldn't be a problem. Containing if he goes nuclear - now that's going to be fun. [In the actually not at all sense of the word.]

[Loki's unsure whether he'd rather this be his own brother in the future or some other incarnation, but only because he can't decide which would be more disquieting. It doesn't matter too much for practical purposes. For Loki, there was no reason to doubt that Thor would be pleased to see him once the shock wore off, that the sweet oaf would do everything he could to help, and that he probably won't even tease too much if Loki lets slip how upset he is. Thor, after all, had to feel the same way about this mess.]

I've been told there were inadvertent visitors here from more than one strain of reality on Midgard. I didn't realize that might be the case elsewhere.

[Because even if he can count on his big brother not to be too mean to him, he's not going to stop trying to give the impression that he's on top of everything and will have the situation sewn up in short order. It's just habit.]

I've heard of Tony. Haven't met him though. Or Clint. But, hey, what do you mean by not seeing them yet?

Say no more, say no more.

[Pepper can get her intelligence from other sources if needs be. Or just call Alenko directly. She dimples at Thor's praise]

And I try. Sometimes, I even succeed. I'll see you soon.

I have not been in the Old City yet, so while we have communicated briefly over this device, I have not seen them face to face. It is not the same at all, you know.

[And he's looking forward to doing that, seeing them in person and all. The people here on the ship are very nice, of course, but he knows these people even better.]

Why do you mortals continually use that word for something that is the opposite?

[Usually Thor would call a good fight fun... but not one against his brother. That's dead serious. And generally unhappy-making.]

Regardless, we will do what we can. He is not as powerful without that scepter, and his magic is more in trickery than in offense.

It will be my pleasure, my lady.

[He executes a briefly little bow, despite being seated, before letting her disconnect at her leisure.]

Nor did I.

[He pauses, then gives the bigger of the two bombshells he might have for a Loki who is truly younger.]

The Loki I saw last tried to kill me. Twice.

[Is this Loki going to do the same? Will he even react to that? Thor isn't sure what kind of reaction he wants, here. If this really is the Loki who hates him, or if he isn't. It's unlike him to be uncertain like this, but there it is.]

[It's quite difficult to really throw Loki for a loop. He's very, very good at composure. But something that unthinkable goes beyond breaking his careful lack of reactions. He almost laughs. That's too ridiculous, but as a jest it's too stupid even for Thor, and too cruel.

Instead he just looks stricken. Thor is the only one he's sure loves him, the only one who comes to look in on him in the temple since Algrim's betrayal, liege and brother both. He's had to bite back the impulse to strike out at plenty of people, fretted endlessly about what other awfulness might be tucked into his heart, but he's never turned that on his brother. It's such an awful thing to hear he completely forgets his usual measured verbosity.]
