[Video] | Tuesday afternoon

[Hey, look who's found his way onto the network again! Finally! Thor is smiling cheerily, and maybe a little bit like he's going stir-crazy, at the camera on his phone. He's also not in his armor, but a rather nice blue tunic with some gold embellishments. Somebody did some shopping while across the ocean.]

At last, we are again in range! Hello, my friends in the Old City! It is Thor Odinson, and we are on our return trip. Apparently we will be arriving at the end of the week, but we are not to speak of that until we strike land again.

[And Thor, while a bit of an airhead, is still trying to abide by the rules.]

Have we missed anything of import? Is everyone still well? Please, regale me!

[And keep him from being bored. Please.]

Because contemplating how not-fun things are is just depressing.

And the legion of crazy people convinced his life is at risk are making me think trickery's enough - but we have a few options, if we need them.

Who all is doing this? Hiding him?

[He hasn't gotten any names yet, only derogatory descriptions in vague terms. If Sigyn is one of those people, though... hmm. He isn't sure what he'd make of that, really.]

[Either Loki is far better at acting than he thinks he is-- and Thor thinks he's pretty good, but that he wouldn't generally bother for him-- or this is not the same Loki. He winces at the expression on Loki's face, sympathetic and a little less uncertain now, but nods.]

It is a complicated tale... and the Loki I saw last is... older. We will have much to discuss, but it must be after I arrive at this city. We should speak face to face and let there be no deception or confusion.

[He pauses, and after a beat adds,]

... it is good to see you, brother.

[He'd like to be offended. Deception and confusion? But Thor has recently learned (or, rather, Sif has flat-out told him) about a few of Loki's ways of managing him, some bidden by their father and some of the younger prince's own admission. He probably deserves that.]

I'll be waiting.

[He doesn't know what else he can say. A Thor who's too old is strange, but he can handle that. A Thor making awful accusations and looking at him like that... Looking at him like he deserves, like a murderer, like his own Thor refused to do... He looks away, not sure if he's being dismissed or not.]

[He tilts his head a bit at that.]

This is going to seem random but... the last time you saw Loki, did he look like an adult or a kid?

Oh, I'm sorry. I thought you'd been here awhile. And I hear you about meeting people face to face. I come from a place where talking like this is common, but meeting in person always feels... I don't know; special, I guess.

An adult, of course. He is nearly my own age.

[What in the Realms is Jack getting at...? Thor doesn't quite put it together with Tony's comments about illusion just yet.]

Agreed. And so I will have to look forward to meeting you in person, as well. And young Jack Frost, Lady Potts, and the Lady Sigyn, as we had quite an intense conversation on my last message across this device.

[There are a lot of people he wants to see, apparently.]

And I will try to make this vessel hurry, to the best of my ability.

[Thor isn't entirely sure how to end the conversation, either. This is not how Loki should be acting. It makes him feel terribly guilty, even more than he already felt when Loki disappeared into the void. His Loki, not this one.]

Do take care of yourself. I will see you soon, brother.

[He'll just go ahead and not comment on how well taking care of himself is going. Normally it would be because a worried Thor is difficult to deal with and makes bad decisions, but a little part of him isn't sure how this brother would react, and he doesn't want to know.]

Yes, right.

[Might be best to just stop before this gets worse.]

Well right now, he's nearly my age. Well, he looks like my age anyway. So if this Loki is the same Loki, then he's from way before he did whatever he did to you guys as an adult.

The others aren't taking that into consideration and automatically assuming he's faking it. I mean, I guess that's possible, but I've been hanging around him. He's dead set on keep a low profile until you get here.

I look forward to it too. Should I let you get back to talking to others, then?

The Loki we all know is a master of illusion, and could appear any way he wished to. I myself have fallen for his ploys more than once. Though I do greatly desire that he not be here to cause mischief or to set himself up as ruler again....

[He's just not sure how hopeful to be. Having the frost spirit confirm that he wants to keep a low profile is reassuring, but at the same time, waiting specifically for him to get back sounds... ominous, a little.]

[After another uncertain pause, searching Loki's face for he knows not what, Thor finally disconnects and goes to return the communicator to Kaidan.

This is doing nothing for his restlessness, after all.]

I do seem to have other messages here requiring responses. It was a pleasure speaking with you, my lady! We shall certainly do it again soon.

Same here. See you later!

[He could answer. Or he could just send along copies of these messages.]

Not to mention anyone else they've roped into playing along. The complete lack of any actual justification for the threats is a nice touch.

[Guess who doesn't know that Clint actually did go after Loki? Not that Tony would blame him at all.]

[Thor is quiet for a minute-- allowing Tony to listen to those messages, himself, second-hand-- and frowns thoughtfully.]

The Lady Sigyn, I believe, speaks out of loyalty to myself. We vowed to aid each other and support each other, and she may view this as part of that vow. I do not know this Fa Mulan. Her reasons are unknown to me.

[Though she reminds him a lot of one of his dear friends. That does earn her a plus, in his book.]

The bifrost destroyed? [He can't help sounding shocked at that. How had that happened? He'd been in Asgard just a few weeks ago and it had been fine. He'd expect them to board up Ratatosk's burrows but the bifrost?

The rest of it has his heart in his throat though.]

Loki? [Loki's freedom is what will start Ragnarok when the time comes (and Atticus has every reason to think that time will be 13 years from now) but... could he already be free?] Gods Below! He has already escaped his bonds?

Oh, they wish. No, but many of my peers spend far too much time with their eyes glued to their fancy spyglasses. I'd rather be flying around in an airship today than dreaming about visiting stars in the distant future, if you know what I mean.

Besides, where I come from, there's plenty of adventure to be done without leaving the planet. Or even the city, some days.

[Darwin wouldn't mind exploring space, of course, but she liked to see more immediate results in her own work.]

[It's a little surprising to find a stranger as concerned about his brother as Thor is, but he replies soberly, anyway.]

I can only hope not. I was transporting him back to Asgard after he brought war to Midgard, when I was separated from him and deposited here. With any luck, he returned safely without me.

And yes, the bifrost was destroyed.

[He sighs.]

It was the only way to save Jotunheim. Loki tried to destroy it by focusing the full power of the bifrost upon it, and it was too late to close the portal. I had to break it.

He's been like that since he got out of the pods, Thor. And believe me when I say that you don't just up and make illusions that quick. I was pretty disoriented for a good couple hours and when I met Loki, I don't think he'd been awake for that long.

[He sighs softly, not entirely sure how to make Thor believe him.]

He didn't know where he was and I think he was waiting for you because he only assumed that you would be here and could help him out. It's what I did when I first got here. Look for the people I know. But then, once Sigyn told everyone he was here, he was only met with hostility.

[He gave Thor a bit of an uncertain look.]

If I were in his shoes, I'd do the same. Hide until someone I knew was here.

And this sounds nothing at all like the Loki I know, and who I saw last. He wanted to be seen, and wanted all to know him and adore him... this is very odd behavior.

[He sighs, looking hangdog himself. He wants to believe.]

I love my brother, even after what he has done. All I have ever wanted was for him to come home so that we could reconcile. If this is not that same Loki... then I know not what to do. I would speak with him, at least.

I am glad for you, then! Adventure should be had wherever one can find it, so long as no others are hurt by it.

[New philosophy, mostly, but he likes it. Also, because he's curious and wants more deets on this local planet:]

And yet now here you are, on a distant planet. Are you finding adventure here, as well?

A fine stance to take! You really must come by, when you get back to the city.

Oh, there's adventure here. Not necessarily the most savory kind, I'm afraid. The Outer Authorities are... are quite cruel.

[Not that Darwin didn't see some pretty dark things back home, but it wasn't nearly so omnipresent.]

Still, so long as there are new things to learn, I'll be content here until someone figures out a way to bring us home.
