First Diplomatic Meeting [Video] Wednesday Morning | Week 42

[The video flickers to life after a moment, and a face will appear. She seems composed, but she's dressed plainly and her hair is down, if anyone knew her, they'd be surprised...for a number of reasons. She is fingering what appears to be a wooden trinket in her hands as she sits. Still inside the ship for the moment at least.

Her voice is composed, barely and there is a hint of steel behind her words. Okay more then a hint.]

Where are my children?

Whoever is in charge of this kidnapping, you did a poor job restraining me. I am willing to talk, but only if you tell me what has happened to my children.

....Palpatine, if you are behind this. Then I remind you that I am still a Senator, and unless you have destroyed them already I still have rights. You cannot detain me like this without informing the government of Naboo. I have done nothing wrong.

[There's a pause though.]

Yes, I believe it is. I cannot help but worry about them.

[Out of all of that, the only thing that really clicks for Kerra is Naboo. Inner Rim, wealthy, peaceful Republic planet. Nice place, if somewhat boring. That meant someone from home. Someone important. And given the strong ties between the Senate and the Order in her time, Kerra's definitely not ignoring it.

And then...she skims the other unfiltered replies like any good scout should. Oh...kriff...

Senator, forgive me if I seem curt but I'm afraid we're well outside of the Republic, or any Empire you might be familiar with. I'm Jedi Knight Kerra Holt, and as Major Janson has already explained, time can be a little strange here. A...heh...a thousand years at least kinda strange.

That said, welcome to Verdana and the settlement of Poseidon.

[And...only a Senator could really get that level of politeness out of her.]

When you say one thousand years, are you referring to yourself?

I do. I'm...well...[She bites back a curse for a Senator] I'm from what I believe people in your time call the Dark Age of the Republic. When the Sith took the Outer Rim, and the Republic pulled down the comm-grids out there.

[She smiles ruefully, but there's a hint of pride in her voice.]

I'm the only Jedi out there in my time. Well, the only one alive, anyway. I take it you're from before Major Janson and Skywalker by a few years, then?

I see.

[That is a bit to take in, but at this point it's certainly the less insane thing she's heard. She simply nods. But that last bit.]

Skywalker?

Oh you mean Luke. Yes, he was just...born before I arrived here. I'd say twenty years or more difference between our points in time given his age. If... they've told you anything about their history. The Republic has just fallen to the Sith Lord Palpatine before I arrived here.

Yeah. Err...yes. Luke.

[Gosh, forcing her to be formal.]

Major Janson gave me a brief overview. I know the basics, but not much else. And if it's alright with you, I'd rather not know specifics. It's easier for me that way.

[Because kriff...that's...well, it's not like she doesn't have enough to worry about.]

He's... quite a bit older than that here.

[Which is an interesting change of pace from him finding Luke too young]

I don't think any of us can, but here we are.

Yeah, my mom worried about me a lot too. But I really think they're fine. Time... is kind of weird in this place. A friend of mine is from like, a hundred or so years ahead of me. So I don't think they'll miss you for very long, if they even realize your gone to begin with.

Sure, I'll be out there in about half an hour.

[Luke's really not fond of going anywhere near that ship but for his mother he'll certainly make an exception.]

With everything I've been hearing, perhaps that isn't as strange as I'd normally think.

[There's a very confused and slightly hurt looking godling on the screen, here, looking back at you Padme. It looks like he has recently been painting, as there is a smudge of maroon on his cheek.]

... when did you have children?

[No, someone didn't think to see who else has replied to this familiar-looking lady before replying, himself. That would make sense?]

[Now he looks a little less hurt and a little more panicked. Because Jane? With children? Are they his children? He doesn't know much about human gestation, so this seems perfectly reasonable, to him.]

[Padmè however just looks very confused for a moment before regaining her composure.]

There was another, but she's returned to the pods. She was from an earlier time than even me.

[Just a shrug there, Jariel had been weird.]

[Luke's right on time but it's hard to read his expression. He's keeping it neutral on purpose, fearing giving away too much too soon. Being a politician Padme might pick up on this.]

[She does, but keeps it to herself.]

I must admit I've had better days.

You didn't say who you were.

[But to be honest, she has a guess. She seems to be studying his face as well.]

Uh... [He lets out a resigned breath.] I think I should tell you a bit first before revealing myself. It'll make sense, I promise.

We should go back to town before it gets dark. I'll explain on the way.

[He takes a step in the direction he just came from, waiting for Padme to follow.]

Definitely an improvement on the senators I'm used to dealing with.

And no. Traversable wormholes are a whole lot simpler.

[He stops before going further, and finally puts things together. Other people have mistaken his Jane for someone else... so perhaps this is another of those circumstances?

He goes from confused and alarmed to confused, embarrassed, and apologetic.]
