Most of the people on this planet can't even see me, so I'm pretty sure I would have remembered all the trouble they went through just to figure out who I was so they could actually get me into the pod.

But I don't. None of us do. But I'm sure your kids are fine. They'll either be safe in the pods or safe at home. Most you should worry about is getting yourself home.
