[There's the sound of a thunderstorm overhead and rain plopping down on the ground. For someone who hasn't been out in the rain for many years, this is a Big Deal.]

Is it safe to be outside?

[Daniel is sitting outside in the street, shirt and hair well on their way to soaked through, head tilted back so the rain falls on his face, grinning like an idiot.]

You'll get wet, but it won't hurt you.

[She switches to video, to show she's standing in a doorway, not yet wet. She actually looks amused, one corner of her mouth lifted up.]

Ok. Good. I've been inside too long.

[And she's not just talking about on this planet.]

Unless it's too cold, then you'll get sick. But this is lovely, come on out.

[He's a desert, rain is life.]

And this thing [she shakes the camera] will be all right? Since you're using yours and it hasn't shorted out.

Some machines will suffer, but these seen to handle it fine.

Ok.

[She steps outside and lets the rain fall down on her. At first, she lifts her shoulders, looking a bit uncomfortable with the feeling, or the temperature of the water, or both. But then she relaxes into it and her shoulders lower as she tilts back her head.]

It's nice.

Yes.

...you can jump in the puddles and make them splash.

[She looks around for any such puddles and goes over to one, examining it. She toes it with her boot to see how deep it is, then jumps in it. It splashes up her legs and she smiles.]

I wonder...

[She trails off.]

Never mind. Where are you?

A couple streets away from Nem's.

[Brief directions.]

I could come find you, if you'd rather?

No. I can follow directions.

[It's not meant to sound rude; it's just simple fact.

She starts heading in that direction, pausing to jump in puddles she sees along the way.]

Holy frak, I haven't seen rain since, gods, a couple of years back. Okay if I tag along?

The more the merrier!

Ok. I'm right outside the Flop.

[Joins Chell, with her flight suit zipped up to keep most of the rain off of her. She's grinning like a mad woman. Preparing to make a dash for it.]

Ready? Hell, that's a lotta rain.

[Chell looks much the same in her Aperture Science orange jumpsuit. As much as she hates having the logo on her back, it's a practical piece of clothing. She also has her long fall boots on -- white boots with odd springs curving down under her heel. But she walks in them easily.]

Yes. I've been jumping in puddles.

[The boots look interesting. She'll have to ask about those later.]

Jumping in puddles? Haven't done that since I was a kid. Let's go find this guy. And shall we make it you gotta jump in every puddle on the way?

It doesn't have to be every one. That would slow us down.

[She sees one up ahead and leaps into it.]

But some, yeah.

[Starbuck allows herself to act like a little kid again, jumping into puddles while they race to the coordinates. When they finally get there, she's out of breath and laughing. Her knee is twinging, but it's obvious she's in far better shape than last week.]

[Chell is finding that she's having fun doing this, and that it's somehow better having someone with which to share it. This is new territory for her, but she's not worried about it.

Out of breath too, she smiles a little at Kara and actually waves at Daniel. That's a thing people do, right? Wave when they see someone they know?]

[ooc: think we can turn it over to Daniel, then go Kara > Chell > Daniel? Sound good?]

[He waves too, striding along halfway under the overhanging lee of the buildings, so that the runoff drips on his hair and face.]

Hi there!

[Starbuck's grinning up a storm. She waves to Daniel as well, then shakes some of the rain from her hair.]

Goat-man! Nice to see you. Sorry, I would have come out to have some but my knee was still pretty banged up at the time.

[Chell pushes her wet bangs off her cheeks and behind her ears. For the moment she's content to just watch how the two interact and try to pick up the proper social conventions that way.]

[He makes a face of confused amusement before he realizes what she's referring to, then laughs.]

Don't worry about it. There will always be more stew. I think it's a universal constant.

[He strides over - tiny in person, barely five feet - and offers his hand.]

It's Daniel, by the way, but I guess Goat-man is fine if you're really attached to it.

[Kara shakes it with a firm grip and a ready smile.]

Kara. But I also go by the name Starbuck.

[She looks over at Chell, then gives her an encouraging look to introduce herself.]

[She feels a little put on the spot, but she says,]

I had the stew.

[Meaning she and Daniel had already met, though it had been even before that, back on the ship.]
