[Mulan meant for this to be voice but she hit the wrong button by accident, and now is too tired to either notice or care what setting she's on. Possibly both.

She's sitting on the end of her bed, long hair lank and messy, face wan and exhausted. Her voice is weary when she speaks.]

I am grow tired of seemingly always making these calls for the same reason.

[She pauses, sighing and catching her breath.]

But here we stand once again in the aftermath of a calamity. At least I hope it is the aftermath. After these last few days, it's hard to imagine it could be getting any worse.

I want to check on my allies. Some of you I know were injured, or put into harm's way. Others I have not heard from at all. Please. Talk to me.

[The camera is pointed at the ceiling. Loki just didn't bother fussing with the settings before he answered, and he's too busy feeling sorry for himself to pick it up. He sounds hoarse and crabby. ...More than usual.]

Rather, though there's more of generalized lethargy than nausea. There are ways to avoid it but I simply didn't have the luxury. ...That said, I'm very glad my mother and tutor aren't here to see what a mess I've made.

[She nods, taking in the information for what it is. Instead of asking further questions on that subject, though, something else catches her attention and after a thoughtful pause...]

Your mother is a sorcerer as well?

In her way. She's rather too practical to have much regard for the temple hierarchy and I don't know that she ever even submitted a masterwork. I've never been sure if it's being Vanir or just her.

[He's always willing to talk about his mommy. Cheers him up, even. It just doesn't come up much.]

[Oh, good. She wasn't sure if it might be a sore subject or not. She's never really certain, with him.]

Still, it was good of her to teach you, all the same. It meant you had something you could share.

[Kerra doesn't bother with the journal this time. She's home, and she'd taken time off to collect herself, mostly holing up in her bedroom. But seeing that from Mulan shakes her out of her stupor and she pulls on a bathrobe before shambling over to her housemate's door and knocking.]

Mulan?

[Mulan is wearing the clothes she'd normally sleep or sometimes exercise in, so a sleeveless shirt with a mandarin collar and loose wide-legged trousers. She looks tired and something of a wreck. She probably still smells faintly of smoke.

She moves stiffly, too, nursing weary muscles and a few bruises that have yet to fully darken.]

Hi. Please tell me you're just checking in, and this isn't because something's wrong. Because I really don't know if I could take anything more right about now.

[Kerra laughs hoarsely and shakes her head, reaching out to pull Mulan into a gentle hug if she'll allow it.]

I'm fine, Mulan. Tired, but fine. [Another rough laugh.] I just came to check on you.

[The hug was a little unexpected, but at this point? Definitely not unwelcome. So no, no stopping her.]

How did you make out during all of this? It feels like I haven't seen you or Wanda in days.

[Kerra squeezes tight before letting go.]

I had my fair share of trouble. A couple of scrapes, but nothing too bad.

[Shaking her head, she looks over her shoulder.]

Kaidan pulled me out of a jam the night the Flop burned. And I involved myself when that mob attacked Belle. I did my best to stay out of it.

[She closes her eyes briefly, hand going to the back of her friend's neck.]

I...need to talk to Belle. I didn't know that happened to her, though I can't say that hardly surprises me. She means well, but she's something of a magnet for trouble. You would think with all his power, Rumpelstiltskin would be doing a better job to keep her safe. [An unthinking mutter as she says this to herself out loud.]

[Sharon's reply comes later, the feed filled with birdsong, sunlight, and a view of the downed Raptor. Grease-smudges, messy hair, and sweatstains down her cheeks mark the Cylon as someone who's clearly been roughing it for the last week, but her reply is steady and unbothered.]

I'm fine, Mulan. I wasn't in town when...whatever it was...went down, and I couldn't get back in. I've been sleeping in my ship.

What the frak happened?

I'm so glad to hear you were safe. I know you can take care of yourself, but... [She trails off. Her worry goes unsaid but probably not unheard.]

Unrest happened. Rioting, and fire. People here are unhappy and they blame the arrivals from the ship for it. The 'outsiders'.

They burned down the Flop, and they tried attacking some of us. And that's just what I know about.

Ah. [A pause, and she looks off into the distant, eyes going out of focus for a minute as she remembers the riots that'd accompanied her admittance into the Colonial Fleet.]

I could do with some bandages and about a week's worth of sleep. But I'm fine. I'll live. Hopefully, most everyone else is about as lucky.

So long as it wasn't part of the Flop or too close by...then again, I don't know what else caught on fire. I don't know how far some of those fires spread.
