[Neville hasn't always lived alone above the shop. So he figures he might as well open up his home to those who need it.]

If anyone needs a place to stay, I have extra space in the flat above my shop. I have some protective charms up, so it should be fairly safe.

A wizard?

[Was that another word for sorcerer? This boy appeared to be around Chloe's age. Was he possibly one of the other teens from the groups she and Derek had been searching for?]

Okay, you're a wizard.

[If he was aware of his powers, chances were he wasn't part of the experiment. While it was a relief, it was also disappointing not to find another like her.]

Then what do we need to worry about? Are these riots and f-fires a common occurrence?

[And how much did he know about other supernaturals? Why would he so easily admit what he was to a stranger here? Maybe, with aliens about, it wasn't a big deal here?]

Not... exactly. People were tense with the murders... and then Nem was killed. This is the first riot though.

M-m-murders?! Plural? Who were they? W-were they people from the ship? Salvation?

[Then Chloe's attention is completely captured. He knew Nem? Her ghost guide from the fire?]

The victims were all local. Nem was the mayor.

[Hence all the problems all of a sudden]

It's nasty business.

The mayor? Wow.

...That doesn't bode well. For anyone. Do you think the fire was set in reaction, then? By angry locals, maybe, since it targeted a place built for people from Salvation?

No kidding.

That's the main theory right now. That if it weren't for people waking up on the ship, none of this would happen.

Inara's worried about our local customers, and I think she might be right.

It's new for them. Just like us being here is new for us. They might be frightened by us. I've seen things like this before. What usually ends up happening isn't a pretty sight. Who knows, maybe someone's grasping at straws and looking for someone to blame. We're easy targets, since we aren't from here. Though I suppose that goes both ways.

Who is Inara? And what customers do you mean?

I run a plant shop. Inara helps me with a lot of the bookeeping.

Cool. I've been in a flower shop before. Are they at all similar?

[Chloe considers that, shrugging lightly. She is, after all, also grasping at straws simply to make sense of things that didn't make sense. Yet.]

What I'm trying to say is it's easy to point fingers. I wouldn't want anyone getting hurt just because someone is looking for blame.

I do sell flowers. I even did some for a wedding a few months ago.

I also sell a lot of plants that have healing properties.

Healing properties? For which kinds of ailments?

Just about everything. Most of what I sell is for infections or injuries though. The sort of thing that happens most commonly.

That sounds useful. You know that much about plants? Their properties and where to find them and everything?

Are the plants here much different from the ones you're familiar with, in any case?

Herbology's the one subject I'm actually good at in school. About half the plants here are what I'm used to, but the rest are new. I've been cataloging them.

What's the strangest plant you've come across?

I love plants... I guess the strangest to most people would be the mandrakes. We learn about them in second year but Muggles find the fact that they're somewhere between plants and animals a bit strange.

...Muggles?

Wait. Something between a plant and an animal? Sounds strange, alright.

Muggles is what we call people without magic. People who don't run into things like mandrake when they're twelve.
