[ Early afternoon on Thursday, particularly psychically susceptible people might suddenly feel an agonizing, splitting pain down the center of their skull. Psychic overload, if any of them have experienced it before, drowning in a stream of information too much for one person to handle.

Brief impressions: the ship, no, the other ship, go back for them, four more, woke them up, the first, the first.

The contact cuts off as abruptly as it was made. ]

[Sherlock knew about the feel-good vibes whoever-it-was had been sending out. Not that he was altogether comfortable with the possibility of someone else in his head, but honestly? It had kept him from going entirely mad with restlessness. Also it had pissed off Shepard, so. Couldn't be all bad.

This, by contrast, makes him double over, reaching out to the nearest wall for balance. The information overload he could deal with, but the pain--

Those brief impressions sound like they have something to do with the Oracle. He goes back over them in his mind once the pain subsides, working to hold onto them. He mutters under his breath:]

[ He returns from his loss of consciousness with his mind already connecting to those around him, an empathic bond made stronger by the strength of the broadcast. His head is throbbing, too much so for the finesse required to step in and wipe that pain away. ]

[That's a hell of a wave that hits him. First thought is about what he found out about the Oracle, what the "first" ship was. Second thought is Charles needs to be shut down before he breaks something.

And then he goes quiet. Fuck. Hope that wasn't him breaking something.]

[ It's several minutes later when Charles finally recovers enough equilibrium to reach out to those affected. He brushes against Kay's mind, sends a clumsy-with-pain soothing note to wipe away much of the aftershocks. ]

/My apologies./

[The pain is intense. Starbuck's knees buckle. She drops her crutch and lurches against a wall to prevent herself from falling, clutching at her head. Something's invading her mind. Flashes of images. Thoughts not her own.]

[ The contact doesn't resume until minutes later, when there is a quiet, clumsy apologetic touch, and a soothing feeling spreading through her mind. ]

[Where the last few psychic touches he'd encountered were gentle brushes, this is like a punch to the face. He grabs his head with his hands although that doesn't stop the pain. By the time it ends he feels dizzy and ill. He's also sitting in an ungainly sprawl on the floor, although he doesn't remember falling.]

[ The touch in response is dizzy and reeling, pained and clumsy, apologetic. He hadn't meant to hurt anyone, but the force of it had felt like it split his skull. ]

[ There's a clumsy, apologetic, soothing brush of Charles' mind, in response. He hadn't meant to hurt anyone. ]

[Somewhere in the ship Rush does not react well to the sudden intrusion and splitting pain. He's hit with panic almost instantly. It feels almost exactly like the mind probes that were used on him.

Could he be wrong? Did they somehow take him back to probe him again? ]

[ His mental touch eases and soothes, when it returns. Like nudging Rush's mind back onto the right track, with a subtle I'm sorry ]

[Samus is no stranger to telepathic beings, though she can't say she appreciates the intrusion into her mind, intentional or not.

The pain halts her mid-patrol, and her mind doesn't immediately react with words; unconsciously her own impressions of the mammoth alien ship; flashes of the negative impression the OD had given her, along with her growing curiosity that directly conflicts with given mission objectives.

But more than one ship...? Hn...]

[ After a long moment, the mind-touch returns, spreads a cool-mint-soothe where the pain was. An apology, of sorts. ]

[The information is not welcome as Fox's hand slips from the needed vein and promptly stabs himself in the arm with the syringe.

The small pain is accompanied by a massive throbbing headache that was now sending searing heat through his body. Well. At least the heat was a reaction to the pain.

The flames lick out through the mental connection once more and this time it isn't a warning crackle, but in subconscious defense.]
