[Kaylee's trying very hard to stay calm. Stress is bad for the baby. Which really makes all this lousy timing.

So she's trying to deal with this entire situation by the method she's learned from many of her nearest and dearest.]

You know. My favourite thing about Verdana is all the stuff that happened in Mayfield that doesn't happen here. You could count on people to actually stay the same person from day to day. I promise, I am plenty grateful already, I didn't need the reminder.

[She keeps reminding herself that Luke and everybody else will be back to normal sooner or later. But it's not terribly comforting right now.]

I am too hormonal to deal with this.

[She nearly ends the transmission there, but then she remembers one more thing. Luke was supposed to pick things up on his way home from work. And now she's feeling even worse than before.]

Could... somebody pick me up some ginger and crackers? Please?

Aaaah. You're pregnant? [Wow, he really must be new.]

But I'm guess that's not what the, uh - well, Chinese isn't my strong suit. But I'm assuming it ain't good. Need to talk?

[He hops up on a bare spot of counter, crossing his legs and lacing his fingers over his knee primly. Hey, he had time.]

I'm gonna go out on a limb here and guess I'm not the guy - or one of the guys - that managed to upset you, because you haven't tried to clock me yet. [Yeah, his sister has definitely influenced his ideas about typical behavior in women] But I guess I'll apologize anyway, on behalf of those of us who aren't, uh, ourselves.

Though I still darn well feel like myself.

Uh, anyway. Your problems. What's the deal?

[Given her current standard, that's not saying much.

She rubs her hand over her stomach]

My husband's suddenly claimin' we ain't married. And if he usually acted anythin' like that we wouldn't be.

Man, that is harsh. He didn't even try to hear you out?

[He wasn't so receptive to the idea at first either, but even he managed to cool his heels for long enough to realize that everyone was telling the truth. At least about the whole thing where he used to be another version of himself. Some of the rest he's still not sure about.]

He didn't hurt you, did he? [No, he doesn't really know Kaylee, but there's a glint in his eyes anyway.] Not that what he's already done isn't enough.

[She shakes her head. The last thing she wants is anyone doing anything dangerous on her account]

Just scared me. Kept yellin' about me leavin' him. Even though I know he can tell he's the baby's daddy.

[How could he argue with something like that? It should have meant something]

...Please tell me you meant it when you said he isn't usually like this.

[Pietro looks a bit uncomfortable.]

I mean, if he's at all your husband, he should at least take the time to freaking listen!

Nothin' like this at all. Usually my biggest worry is him dashin' into danger to go help folk.

I'd ask if you were going to be okay, but... who would be? You sure you don't want me to talk to him for you? Maybe, since I'm also... not myself and all.

With the way he acted... this version of him is dangerous. If he acted that way with me I'm scared to think what he might do to anyone else.

Yeah, well, I've done dangerous before. I can handle it. Someone needs to talk some tense into the guy.

I don't want anyone gettin' hurt on my account.

[If he'd done that much to her... what would he do to someone he didn't remember some weird messed up history with?]

Aw, he'd have to catch me, first! And Quicksilver isn't easily caught, I promise you that.

[He winks. This Pietro seems to think he's hot stuff even more than the last, if that's possible.]

That might not be enough. He can see things before they happen. Move things without touching. All that's part of the reason he always insists on trying to help everyone. But if he's usin' it wrong...

Eh, I've had a run-in or two with the type.

[Mostly he's thinking about Loki. Granted, he had the Avengers' help on that one.]

I've been in the heroing biz for a while now, I think I know how to keep out of trouble.
