My name is Charles Xavier. I am one of the awakened, from the ship. As far as I know, we are all from different times, and perhaps from different universes as well, and none of us knows how we came to be asleep on an unfamiliar spacecraft.

Has anyone a theory to present?

And one more thing. This may seem like an odd question, but... is there a large population center, nearby? I don't mean under the dome.

But I have seen mechs compelled to fight, regardless of the cause.

It was why we left, why we had to leave.

Some fight because they have to; some fight because they want to.

Those who begin wars, in my understanding, often don't know what they're truly unleashing.

And then others must struggle to try to break free from its grip.

I am the only one of my kind here: are there others of your kind--from your world--here?

A few. One, in particular, and another from... a similar place.

[There goes another of Wing's theories. He looks a bit...crestfallen, the pinions of his shoulder engines flattening.]

I wonder why they took two from your world. Are you special?

It could be that we were just quick to awaken.

I wonder, though, if we're even all from the same...dimension? There are many humans but not all are from your planet, yes?

Oh, no. No no no. They aren't from the same dimension at all.

So. Whoever brought us here has the ability to reach across dimensions.

...is that possible in your world?

Not that I know of, but we've been in the throes of quick scientific revolution for decades now.

[He nods.] Fast change can often cause...disruption.

We have the Expansion--a Dead Universe, bleeding into our own, where life cannot exist. That is the only one I know.

[He shakes his head.] But this does not seem to be that. Even though I am, I suppose, dead.

Then the assumption must be that the ship's makers are from neither of our universes, but chose us from outside.

But how. And why us? [He shakes his head.] I'm not one for these sorts of puzzles, I'm afraid.
