[Video] [Wednesday Evening]

Yeah, so...um...

[Roddy hesitates, sorting out his thoughts, before he voices what's on his mind.]

I really need a job, I don't care in what, but I'm really good at playing the violin, and if anyone has a rat problem, I can take care of that like...really fast. Anything else within reason, just let me know what you want me to do.

[He's about to turn off the device when he realizes...]

Oh, by the way, my name's Roddy Geiger and I'm new here. So...uh...hi, I guess.

Does stuff like this actually work?

[It's a genuine question, but because he's, well, himself again, it comes out sarcastic.]

Me neither. Haven't asked here, though.

[He'll wait and see if this guy gets any results, first.]

Welcome to planet crazy, by the way. Anyone warn you about waking up suddenly and not being yourself?

[Enter one briskly businesslike redhead, hair back in a neat bun and her entire aura radiating competence.]

I'm not sure if she's paying or just looking for fellow band members, but a young woman named Priss was asking after musicians a few days ago.

In terms of jobs, I could stand to have my grain warehouses checked for rodents. What sort of trapping methods do you use? Obviously poison is right out, that close to a human food supply.

[Pepper's mind, despite the presence of people of the magical persuasion flitting in and out of her life and occasionally working as a short-order cook, jumps not to the supernatural but to the scientific as she parses that explanation. She nods gently, an eyebrow raised in interest]

Some sort of sound cue, then? We've done a few trials back where I'm from with different frequencies, but they haven't proved workable for long-term use yet -- too many headaches for the granary employees to have it on constantly.

Good. Come by and take a survey of the space and let me know what your normal hourly rate would be, and I'll make sure it's translated over into Verdanian credits for you. The banking system here will be familiar enough if you're from a time and place with debit cards.

[Pepper looks as though she's about ready to dust her hands over a job well done, nod crisp and pleased.]

Sending them to your communicator now.

[And lo, a second later a little map file with the name of Pepper Potts attached to it transmits itself to his device.]

I look forward to meeting with you, Roddy.

[[OOC: If you're OK with handwaving, I'd appreciate it -- thesis writing is putting a serious crimp in the number of threads I can manage.]]

[[OOC: Awesome! After she's had a chance to assess his results, she'll probably recommend him to other people in need of pest control.]]

[The voice on the other end of the line is male, accented in a fashion that speaks to something Spanish or Italian but not quite either as a native tongue. It also sounds amused at some private joke.].

Ah, rats. I too have passed the time eliminating pests. Of course, there are far better ways to make money than simply chasing vermin my friend.

For one, there are the dinosaurs. Larger, more of a challenge... but there is often a bounty placed on them. The meat and hides fetch a good price too.

But aside from hunting, there is profit for those who can sit quietly with their ears open and pay attention to what they hear. Much like how one might listen to hear the rats, if you take my meaning.

Ah, when you mentioned the rats I misunderstood. My apologies, ser!

In that case, I would advise you to start with smaller and less pointy game before attempting the dinosaurs. Listening may be of more profit to you.

The town has felt some unrest lately. Murders, riots... curfews. There are those who speak at length about how this is an injustice. You may find profit in listening to them, one way or another.
threesovereigns: (smooch)

[personal profile] threesovereigns 2014-07-24 12:02 am (UTC)(link)
And, if you are lurking in bars, you may get lucky. A winning situation all around.

I wish you luck, ser. Do let me know if anything interesting comes to your ears, yes?

Oh, don't trouble yourself on my account. Success in lovemaking is a thing to be celebrated!

But... I shall leave you to your hunt, whatever the form may be.

[With that cheerful exhortation, the audio drops.]
