I finally see what you all were talking about with the whole waking up on the ship thing.

[Pietro looks tense, but he's dressed, at least. However, the uniform is unfamiliar. He's clearly still inside the ship.]

But can someone tell me why my powers aren't working?!

[His voice climbs a few octaves closer to panic at the end.]

Well, if you mean the guys other me used to hang out with, I guess Nightcrawler's still here. Not sure I know any of them well enough to call them a friend.

And Tony's here, of course, but even if he did remember me - which he doesn't - calling him a 'friend' is kiiind of a stretch.

[The last part is said with a bit of a smile and good humor, though. He doesn't get along with Stark, maybe, but he's glad there's an Avenger here nonetheless.]

I'll keep that in mind if I'm in the neighborhood.

You're going to stay with them, though, yes? If you have housing trouble, perhaps you could check in with Miss Potts.

[Armand can't claim to get along with the man either, though there isn't any specific conflict or even incident behind it. Armand is simply intimidated by him.]

I am glad to see younger people around. I don't feel so out of place.

[Surprisingly, Pietro brightens at the mention of Pepper.] Pepper's here? That makes things a little more bearable. But yeah, I'll probably go back to staying with them, unless the other me shows up and needs his room back. That'd just be too weird.

[Sorry, being one of the two youngest Avengers makes his age a bit of a sore spot.]

Oh, I didn't mean you were a child. You can't be that much younger than I am, if you even are. I just get so tired of having to be an adult here, alone without my family.

I'm sure they'll be glad to see you, even if they aren't the friends you remember from home.

And I'm sure Miss Potts will always be glad to advise you, if you need it. She's good at it.

[He looks a little mollified, for now.] She always has been, back home.

She's very intelligent. [He's glad enough to sing her praises.] I can't imagine her being anything but on top of the world.

That sounds like Pepper all right. Good to hear that some things never change.

I know you barely know me, just from that quick chat before... but I had wondered if it would be proper for me to ask for your given name, not the sobriquet you offered me before.

[He paused, chewing on his lower lip, then sighed with a rueful smile.] I have heard it in passing from others, so I know the name, but I'd rather have your permission to use it. I don't have another name to hide behind, though I do understand when people want to keep secrets. It is safer in some situations.

I'd like to think you could trust me. Whatever you were afraid of elsewhere is likely different here, and most of us from the Ship are lumped together by the local people.

Sorry, man. Last time we talked I still thought I might be on duty, so to speak. It's Pietro. Pietro Django Maximoff. I don't really mind people knowing that, I guess. Everyone back home knows who I am.

Dying has taken a terrible toll on her trust. I don't know her at all, but even I'm worried for her.

[Pietro looks visibly shaken. He's been avoiding thinking about how he wound up up... not around, last time. He hadn't come to grips with the fact that he'd died, himself.]>

I don't know the details, but she ran up against someone who--well, she was killed, as I said.

I didn't mean to bring such upsetting news. It's just that I am worried about her.

...I take it my own death wasn't some pod-induced hallucination either, was it.

[He bit his lip.]

I am not very good at this. It isn't fair of me to ask you to help her, since you have just as much reason to be troubled.

[Pietro's first instinct is that someone really needs to be beaten up for that. But he's the only one who's still the 'wrong' person, isn't he?]

Yes. Even he is back to normal. He was tried and sentenced for what he did.

And it took a long time for you to wake up again.
