[A beat.]

It's probably not my business, but you don't sound so great.

Ah, well. I...had my own experience with the fog. Apparently I'm not quite as immune as I thought.

[She's not sure what to say there. Most people would say something along the 'sorry to hear that' lines, but that's not how she works.

After a few seconds:]

Do you need anything?

[To help him sound less like shit.]

[the answer is instinctive] No, I'm - [but it would be utterly transparent, and quite counterproductive]

Actually, I could do with a distraction. It ought to be safe to explore by now, don't you think?

When and where?

[thecricketer]

[oh, he's just beaming at her, and it shows in his voice] Any bits of the city you'd like to visit?

[Stop that, it's awkward.] South-west it is, then.

Where do I meet you?

[thecricketer]

[never] Do you remember where my ship is?

[why can't she make any normal friends] On my way.

[cheeky as hell] Lovely.

Shepard doesn't reply. Instead, she's heading for the aforementioned ship. Feel free to see her coming, she's not trying to be stealthy by any means.]

[the Doctor head outside to wait, leaning against the doors with his hat in his hands; he considers whistling jauntily, but decides against it

he does smile warmly when he sees her coming, though, and pushes away from the comforting, solid warmth of his ship]

Hello, Commander. How have you been?

[femshep]

[She's stopping a few feet away.] I'm sane again, if that says anything.

[thecricketer]

[he nods as he approaches, perhaps to conceal that concerned once-over he's taking] I've always found that generally beneficial.

[femshep]

You, on the other hand, haven't changed one damn bit. [Her tone's mostly in good humor, albeit dry humor.]

[thecricketer]

[naturally, he grins] I'm quite stubborn that way.

So I've noticed. [But it's hard for her to look terribly irritated by it--his cheer is obnoxiously contagious, at least partially.]

[his eyes glint as he plunks his hat on his head] Where are we headed?

[femshep]

Southwest. Beyond that, not sure. [She takes that as his cue that he's ready to go, though, so with a glance to make sure he's coming, she heads off down the road at a casual pace.]

[he strides along after her, smile only deepening] I do love open-ended travelling. [really, Doctor, no one would have ever guessed]

You would. [But her tone isn't anywhere close to hostile, so consider it good-natured teasing.]

[quite cheerfully, as he strides along beside her] I'll take that as a compliment.
