[Ian (who is only sixteen) is standing outside the ship. He looks confused and annoyed at the same time; he wants answers, and he wants them now.]

Gabe, are you around here somewhere? Suki? CJ?

[after no response from his friends, he frowns] Where am I? Is this some kind of test, or experiment? Some illusion created by Whisper?

Maybe it’s a dream...but it’s a pretty weird dream, if it is. Even weirder than the yellow elevator one, or the one where Conner called me his liege, whatever that means. [he pauses] At least Señor Guapo hasn’t made an appearance yet.

Okay, that's pretty weird. I haven't met any mind-readers yet. Well, CJ does something similar, but she can't actually get inside your head like that.

[Her eyes widen at that, but only for a moment.]

So that's the purpose of your 'school'. [She says the word derisively, almost contemptuously.]

Might I ask what you can do?

[Ian shrugs a little] It's not really something I do...it just sort of happens.

But yeah, Tower Prep is full of kids with abilities like that. We all woke up there with no memory of how we got there, and we couldn't escape.

Until now, I guess. [he's not very happy about escaping like this, though]

That can change. [A slight smile, sympathetic but strained, as she taps her temple.] When my abilities first manifested I had very little say in what they did. [It's not a time she particularly likes to remember.]

That's... [A grim, weary shake of her head.] That's the sort of thing I've always feared. [In her - her world, she supposes.] One of them, at any rate.

...You do realise it's not your fault, leaving them behind?
