007 ⌥ VIDEO

[Welp, here's Shepard. She's got a lovely pair of parallel gashes across her cheek with the hintings of an attempted third, and the deepest spots may or may not be emanating a little bit of a red glow, but that's the least of their problems, because:]

I know we've got eyes and ears out west. Anyone want to tell me what the hell's going on? Whatever it is is driving everything with some kind of survival instinct straight through central. We've got wildcats, we've got oversized wolves by the pack, we've got-... shit, never thought I'd see the day that 'dinosaurs' were a plausible theory.

You'd think something like this would call for a goddamn status report.

[Shepard is Not Happy with the general lot of you. She's vaguely wondering what the use is of having so many goddamn military-men if they're all gonna circlejerk on one end of the city and leave their collective flank wide open.

Also? Liara, Kaidan, that's your cue to report in.

To all telepaths! She noticed the distinct lack of AU!Charles and it's making her antsy, so she's swallowing her pride and putting out a 'where the hell are you' sort of wordless ping to see if she can't locate him. She needs to know if he's in trouble or just idk brooding or something. Any and all telepaths can probably pick up on this ping if you'd like them to, though she may or may not bitch at them for it.]

Firebreaks could still be a thing.

[Kaidan's speech is slow, slightly abstracted as he applies his mind to a challenge set, and his expression mirrors this.]

I only know them as theory but it seems to be down to terrain and manpower... how many people are in the Old City, and how many'll fall in line if you yell loud enough?

Good to see you haven't lost your inspirational leadership style.

[Even in the midst of this, he has time to flash her a quickly teasing grin before the lightness fades from his expression, driven back by business. Out of focus, the scenery shifts as he gets moving towards the fire zone.]

We're going to need shovels, axes, mattocks -- tool, not gun -- anything people can use to rip things up and yank them back. Best thing would be if we could set some small, controlled fires and use up the fuel before the big one can get it -- I bet we could use biotics to help contain those, at least, but this is where I've got no experience.

And does anyone have a map of the terrain between here and the fire's edge?

Depends on the biotic casting it. I'm... more used to using them as personal defense, so mine'd be dense and tight. I, uh, don't have a mnemonic in place to be able to do a shield umbrella, never came up. Liara, maybe?

[He sounds mildly frustrated, apparently at not being able to quick-load a new application of a biotic power on demand.]

[Speaking of on demand...]

Not large enough to make an appreciable difference with a fire this size. I can cover a few meters in diameter - enough to shield a door, or a small group.
