Hello! Um, I'm told that there are others of you out here that arrived on the ship? Which is pretty interesting! Have any of you investigated it at all? Do we know where it came from? I mean obviously we all got on it somehow—which is another thing to investigate, now that I mention it, because I have like zero memory of that—but if anyone's taken some more diagnostics on it that I was able to do in a few hours I'd love to compare notes! I guess I'd also appreciate if someone could fill me in on the situation out here, since this is... not anywhere near any place I've ever been, based on my GPS.
Oh, um! I forgot to introduce myself, ahaha... anyway, I guess you can call me Judy? I'm looking forward to getting to know all of you; um, feel free to say hello? Hi.

let the harassment begin~! [video]
[Time to put on his Superconfident Badass 'Don't you fret none, little lady' face.]
[Though his voice may be a little hoarse from all that screaming like a girl he did about the dinosaurs. He's hoping it sounds husky and macho.]
Been working on the ship for a while. I got the lights and doors working. [Actually that had been an accident, but Potentially Hot Chick doesn't need to know that.]
Don't worry though. I'll keep you safe. [GRIN: you feel safer already, admit it!]
[text]
well, apart from because the fact that she is kind of... a cyber criminal but w/e]
Um... thanks? I mean, it doesn't look too bad out here, I guess. How's the work been with the ship?
[VIDEO because you need to appreciate his awesome.]
Yeah well, getting a bit of a break right now.
Before though. Yeah. Dinosaurs. I was ALL up in that.
[Because they kept chasing him. But history is written by the victors, dammit. Besides, dinosaurs can't write.]
Ship's kind of failing. Mostly because we keep getting distracted.
Oh yeah, and it's alien tech no one understands.
[text]
Well, hopefully I'll be able to help out with the ship? I mean I'm sure with what you and other people have figured out so far if we put our minds to it I'm sure we could figure something out. Though—what's been distracting? Have there been... a lot of dinosaurs?
[Apparently Hudson is irresistible to dinosaurs. If only he could swap that out with 'irresistible to hot chicks'.]
Hey, I could show you around the ship, if you want. The main consoles, that sort of thing. [It would be like...a date or something.]
Dinosaurs, before that there was a fire, and some toxic gas that made everyone crazy. Mountain lions. The Man trying to bring us down.
[Shrug.] It kind of adds up.
[text]
[little does she know what she has gotten herself intoooooo]
—egad, that sounds kind of awful. No wonder. Well, here's to hopefully having a bit of peace? Fingers crossed.
[Potentially ominous eyebrow waggle.]
Yeah, I wouldn't count on it. But you don't have anything to worry about, Judy. [Heh. Hot chick name.] I'll keep you safe.
[text]
[But you know, smooooothly. ]
You run into anything ugly, you just let old Hudson here know. [He flashes a smile.]

- Previously unknown world - 'Verdana'
- Ship's data is locked up tight - not even the best minds we've got can get in
- Dangers: the Authorities (if you see hovercars, hide), wild predators (wildcats, wolves, carnivorous dinosaurs), apparently wildfires
- Feel free to just ignore the jerk-off in the helmet.
[comment not here]
[also not here]

Do you have any more deets on the Authorities, aside from the ominous name?

Advanced weaponry, collars that block the use of any sort of superhuman power or ability (they use these on anyone deemed a threat), extremely disciplined, tend to raid en masse.

The more you know, the less I have to tell the next guy.

...also it would probably be prudent to pretend to be normal, yes. words chosen carefully:]
Wow. Creepy!
Superhuman powers? Is that a... thing, around here? Do the collars to anything aside from block... stuff like that? Also, what constitutes "a threat", I feel like that would be good to know.
no subject
Yes.
"Do the collars to anything aside from block... stuff like that?"
Not as far as we know.
"Also, what constitutes "a threat", (...)"
We're not sure. Assume that if you're dangerous in any way and they notice, you're a threat.

[LIES LIES LIES]
What kind of things have they gone after people for in the past?
no subject
Priorities are currently restoring functions to the alien ship. Having come from the ship, the Authorities may label you as a potential threat.

Fffft "considered" up there. Stupid letters falling off.

Words like 'diagnostics', 'GPS' and 'compare notes' catch my eye when they're all bunched together like that. You coming from a tech background?
[text]
And, yes, actually—I'm a computer programmer by trade and training.
Re: [text]
If we got our hands on some of it, your skills could be critical. I dabble a little, but it's a) not my primary field and b) probably the wrong era of tech for me anyways.
[text]
Wrong era...? I guess I can't expect the technology out here to be what I'm used to, can I.
Re: [text]
2186 for me, I've met others from the early 21st century. The ruins here are somewhere in the 20th to my eyes.
Granted, even in my time every major human programming language still goes back to a derivative of C if you go deep enough. Maybe between us we can bash something out.
[Text]
Are you an engineer?
[text]
[text]
And no, I'm no engineer. Most of my experience with spaceships comes from travel, not training.
[text]
You've been in a spaceship before? For travel? Are you an astronaut?
[text]
[text]
[...well, officially, anyway, and if the Umbra doesn't count.]
We started sending people into space about half a century ago, maybe...? So it's still very novel for me!
[text]
It poses some very interesting philosophical and ethical questions, actually.
[text]
If you feel compelled to not share spoilers, I don't mind, since that's probably best time travel practices, although I think if there are time laws I think whatever brought us here has already broken a good number of them, haha.

Pleasure to meet you, Judy. I'm afraid I haven't much to tell you about the ship you haven't heard already - the more I study it, the more questions I have.
Might I ask where you've ended up? It may still be dangerous out in the open. ...Well. More than usual.

[A shell company of the Technocracy, maybe? She wouldn't put it past them, and it sounds like their style. Although she feels like if they had a hand in this she'd be in a lot worse of a situation, because, um, they hate her. Weird. The other possibility, of course, is that there are other bad things out there behind this that she doesn't know about. Better the devil you know...]
It could definitely be something like that... although, for obvious reasons, I suppose it'll be hard to get any confirmation. Was your friend ever able to remember any of it, or was it just gone forever?
[text forever] o/
But it was used on all of us when we were brought to Tower Prep, and we started to remember how we got there in our dreams.
