[for once, it's an audio message. he prefers not to make them simply because it makes it easier to track him. but this time, he wants to take that risk, regardless of any negative attention it might bring. that's partly the point of this
he isn't at "home", for once. instead he's off alone, taking another look around the remains, having already knock down a few buildings that he consider uninhabitable. but it's the smell that's prompted this message. the stench of rotting and burned flesh that brings back memories he'd sooner ignore right now
this really isn't something he particularly wants to do. but with onlythree five mutants here, he knows there isn't much of a choice any more. not when he knows he's the only one of their little group who'd willingly kill others if they're a threat. it's his job to make sure they stay safe, even if it means having to work with the humans here]
We have...lost a number of those amongst us over the past few months; both native to this land and not. More recently of course, a fire and a stampede a to blame, and once again we were caught off-guard. It seems to be a recurring theme here, regardless of whatever attempts at preparing ourselves we have made.
[and that doesn't include those they've lost by being brought here in the first place]
A certain member of our non-native population previously suggested that we group together. That organisation is needed. I'm sure that this past week has helped to reiterate that fact.
[yes, he's talking about you shepard. but no, he's not using names openly on this network]
Damage control is needed, at the very least. A defence would be better. Something to protect those here against whatever dangers make themselves apparent next.
[but that's not the part he most interested in. he's never been a pacifist. that's charles' job]
And to those willing to take the risks needed, an offensive team. We need to prepare ourselves, however possible. The Authorities will continue to hold the power in this situation until we take it from them. We need to be ready to fight.
Whichever path you choose, the important thing to remember is that there isn't a single person here capable of doing that single-handedly.
[one last pause and-]
You're not alone. Not unless you choose to be.
[locked to charles;]
[this message gets added on a while later, and somewhat reluctantly. sometimes you just need to man up and talk to your bff when something is wrong]
Can you hear me?
[it's as close as he's getting to asking charles to listen in to his thoughts this time]

I wouldn't really call myself a fighter, but I might be able to help with defenses? I figure that expensive engineering degree should be good for *something*.
[She'd say more but hell no is she telling anyone that she can do magic over communications that could be intercepted. That's another thing; sometime she is going to hack this thing and give it some goddamn encryption.]
perma-audio;
[interesting. he may have a certain other project she'd be useful for later. but it's something he'll have to run by charles first. cerebro is his speciality.]
Until we know just how many are willing to get involved with this, we won't know what we need. But until then, there is a man here- a native named Edmund -who'll likely need your skills to help with the reconstruction of the city.
permatext;
I'm kinda curious, though, because I was told that this network wasn't secure and also that the Authority guys aren't really into us having actual organization out here and tend to aggressively neutralize anyone who's a threat. Aren't you, you know... worried about that?

They had just averted a war back home, and he was certain that they could do so again, if they could only speak to the people within the domes. Show them that they meant no harm, that they could even, perhaps, work together to help restore this planet to something safe for both sides. Something collaborative in which they could cohabit peacefully.]
I can, Erik. What is troubling you, my friend?
[Besides the obvious, but Charles had a mind that Erik was aware of that.]
no subject
[while he knows that making this kind of a post over a public network isn't the best idea, he refuses to have a conversation with charles over it. not when it's one that's going to veer away from the content of the post and in to personal territory. that information is meant to stay between the two of them alone.]
no subject
I'm here.
no subject
I suppose I should apologise for disappearing this morning.
henceforth, mental conversations
I had wondered where you went.
no subject
[though not for the obvious reason. he'd known from the first moment he'd stepped out the door that morning that he had no plans to go back that day. not until he'd gotten his thoughts in order somehow. not until he'd decided on his next step.
well, now his next step has happened, and he knows it gives him even less of a reason to go back again. he can't bring this kind of a risk to charles' door.]
no subject
[The apology comes somewhat unexpected, and there is a hint of confusion with his thoughts. Where are you, Erik? What are you doing? Charles doesn't like the sound of that at all and it is definitely not easing his worry.
His next words will likely come as a surprise, but he means them when they leave his mind.]
And... You made quite a few points, though I am still hesitant to support an all out offensive, your reasoning makes sense. It certainly seems that they will remain persistent.
no subject
Whether you agree with me or not, I wouldn't ask you to fight alongside me this time.
[because he knows that the authorities seem to be resistant to telepathy, which only leaves the violent option available to charles. back home, he's already asked enough of him by needing his help with shaw. he isn't going to ask the man to go against his values again.]
no subject
[There's a furrowing of brows that Erik can not see, but likely would know from the tone of the voice in his head. Charles is confused and nervous about the way Erik is talking. As though he is about to do something very foolish. Erik is all he has, here, with no offense meant to Ian and Jocelyn.]
You are no more alone here than you were in our own time.
no subject
[his tone is harsher than he'd like. but it's charles' wariness that prompting his own reaction. the last thing he needs is to feel any guiltier for what he knows is likely to come next.]
There are others here who could use your help. You need to focus on them.
no subject
Did it not occur to you that if this were meant to go on the network, it would be there?
[So you won't name names that the Authorities already know, but you will put them on high alert. A+, Erik. Absolutely fantastic.]
no subject
[or rather that he wants the authorities to come looking for him now. he's done with playing it safe.]
no subject
[so is she. in fact, she's spent weeks laying plans for just that, which his post effectively ruins. needless to say, shepard is displeased.]
no subject
Are you expecting an apology?
no subject
I'm expecting you to sit your ass down and not bring the Authorities down on our heads. [Until they're ready, anyway. Which they aren't.]
Or at the very least, when you get yourself killed, don't take half of everyone else down with you.
Perma Audio
If you want organization, you'll need at least a meetin' to get everyone together.
no subject
[just the ones who're looking to fight back. of course.]

[ He's new and he doesn't know what they're fighting besides dinosaurs gone wild, but he wasn't sure he liked Erik's elitist tone. ]

For a second I thought your message was meant for the survival of everyone.
[Sign him up! You...lucky dog you.]
perma-audio;
So glad you approve.
perma VIDEO for reasons. Hudson reasons.
[Or do you need some awesome Hudson to step in and help make you look good?]
audio;
And, uh, bravo, by the way. This is textbook rallying. Call on a shared anxiety to start us out. Then, build up from just getting organized to damage control to defense then BAM going on the offensive... Because, you know, that's the best defense, right? It's only reasonable at this point.
That last part, though. That's the best. An implied threat with just enough plausible deniability if you're called on it. That's really dotting the dragon's eye.
perma-audio;
[well, sort of.]
Not everybody is capable of taking an offensive stance, so I want to find those who can. There is somebody else here with an interest in the defensive.
no subject
But you're quite aware of that, aren't you?

What are you hoping to accomplish, Erik?

I'd have left the offensive bit implied, unless you're attempting to attract attention.
Assuming, of course, that the Authorities can track the network.

I don't generally argue against inciting, but we're at a marked disadvantage.
no subject
That doesn't make them superior to us.
no subject
I don't believe a frontal attack will do much good, at least not at this point.
Audio, filtered
Now that is a good opening move. Threatening, bold - what can mere dogs do but follow the call?
[The sound of someone clapping their hands]
Bravo! This takes me back a long time. It has been a while to hear a war-monger in action. I am glad there is still such insanity in the world.
I might even consider you human!
[The later, actually, wasn't a quip on mutants, as Alucard had no idea what a mutant was or that some didn't consider a mutant human. It simply had to do with her categorization of humans.
Oddly enough, her voice didn't sound like she was mocking. She seemed pleased, in fact.]
perma-audio; locked
I would prefer if you didn't identify me as a war-monger or a human. Neither of them would be capable of making a difference here.
perma-audio; locked
Aaaah. You look down on humans, don't you.
[Her voice got a jovial tone.]
Well, I'm sure you won't mind me calling you a monster, then. It wouldn't be an insult if coming from a fellow monster, no?
no subject
No, a mutant. The next step in human evolution.
no subject
Ah, but that makes you still human, doesn't it? You live, you breathe, you create life, and you die - you're mortal, aren't you?
[The later sounds like an educated guess, as if mortal and immortal are pretty reasonable categories for her.]

Organizing things like this out in the open is a really good way to get into trouble. You could at least use a filter.
