[For a guy who just got kidnapped by aliens, Bruce is looking remarkably calm. He's quiet, too, and doesn't exactly carry himself with any sort of confidence. More to himself than to anyone else;]

As if the invasion wasn't enough. Though somehow, I think these guys are different. I just hope they're not Loki's allies, too.

[Then he pauses, glancing around the ship, which he's still standing in.] I'm going to see what I can figure out about this technology....maybe I can get things working again. If anyone I know is out there, please let me know you're all right.

For anyone else who might be listening...can you tell me anything about this place? Where is it, and who's in charge? I'd like to speak to them. At least, if they can understand English. If not, I guess I'll have to pick up another language.

[Blue women with tentacles instead of hair are totally a comforting thing to have pop up on your video screen, right? Right?]

The leaders of the settlement nearby are often available for discussion, although I do not know how wise it would be to point out their location on a publich channel. The wider government is best avoided - I do not believe any of us have had contact with anyone outside their law enforcement division, and they are incredibly brutal.

If I may ask - of which invasion do you speak?

[The Doctor's smile is a wry one. He appears to be in a hospital gown.] Oh, they can understand all of us quite perfectly, it seems. Listening, well, that's something else entirely.

This place - this world - is called Verdana. I'm not sure where it is, in relation to Earth. [A slight, awed smile smile curves her lips. She's still not used to saying things like that.] ...Assuming you're from Earth, of course?

The nearest settlement is the Old City. Those in authority don't seem to know how or why we're here.

[Her expression darkens.] Beyond that is the Dome, and I'd avoid the people in power there as much as possible.

[Bruce is briefly surprised, though his reaction is subtle. But it's not as if he hasn't seen weirder. He's probably weirder. So he just offers her a faint smile.]

A race called the Chitauri invaded Earth not too long ago. Or they tried to. You don't look like them, though. Are you from this planet?

[Bruce just raises an eyebrow at that hospital gown.] That wouldn't have anything to do with why you're in the hospital, would it? At least, it looks like that's where you might be.

[Liara's expression is one of mingled relief and resignation, strikingly human despite her unusual features.]

I have heard mention of these Chitauri here, although they are not a race with which I am familiar. As for myself, no, I am no more native to this world than you are. It appears to be a human colony, albeit one ravaged by war and cut off from the rest of your species.

[He nods, relieved that she seems to be from Earth, too, even if he doesn't know her.] I am, yes. Dr. Bruce Banner, it's a pleasure to meet you. Circumstances aside.

Could you tell me more about the Dome, and the people I'm supposed to avoid?

[Bruce frowns, considering that.] What do you mean, you've heard mention of them? Who told you?

And there aren't any human colonies in space. ...Unless they were brought here the same way I was.

I believe it would be more correct to say that when last you recall, humans did not have any colonies in space. From my perspective, you have spent the last several decades busily establishing them. But as we do not currently know how long any of us spent in cryo-stasis, it is difficult to determine the current state of galactic affairs. Which does not even begin to touch on the question of alternate realities...

[She cuts herself off with an embarrassed cough into one hand.]

My apologies. The nature of our translocation and the disparity in recollection of major events and historic points is of interest to me, but not particularly relevant at this moment.

A Miss Potts spoke briefly of the Chitauri. [Not that she had mentioned them to Liara by name, but the asari is prone to considering anything not encrypted as fair game, and mentions of extraplanetary invasion still draw her attention.] She and several of her contemporaries have been here a few weeks now; given the commonality of social ties between those waking from the ship, perhaps you would recognize some of them as well.

We're on a planet called Verdana, sometime in the future, and beware the Dome.

We're decidedly not on Earth to sum it up. Pepper Potts knows a bit more than I do, since I just arrived.

Ah, I think someone else mentioned an invasion? [scroll scroll scroll through the archive] Oh, it was a woman named Pepper. I don't suppose you got invaded by something called chitauri or... however that's spelled, I have no idea. Who's Loki?

Also, hi, I'm Judy! If you have any questions about the tech stuff here I can fill you in on what we've gotten out of it so far, I think.

[Bruce laughs quietly.] Don't apologize, everything is of interest to me. Especially if things like time travel and alternate realities might be involved here. It's a little outside my areas of expertise, but hopefully I can help figure things out.

[It takes Bruce a moment to place the name.] I think...I might know of a Miss Potts, if her first name is Pepper and she works for Tony Stark. He only mentioned her briefly when I accepted his invitation. But if "several of her contemporaries" are here, I probably will recognize some of them.

[headtilt right back] I haven't met her...but I know of her, and I heard she was here. How far in the future are we, exactly? Do you know?

[Bruce nods. He's pretty sure this Pepper Potts is the one Tony mentioned, now.] Chitauri, yes. Loki is a crazy god from from a world called Asgard...just like the myths, if you've heard of them. His brother Thor is a friend of mine.

[Then, he smiles slightly.] Dr. Bruce Banner, nice to meet you. I'd definitely appreciate any information you could give me.

[His smile turns rueful.] Reluctantly, yes.

[The smile fades as he nods.] They recently staged a siege on the city.

It's not far from the ship - if you do have friends here, that's...probably where they are. [He wishes he could assure the man that they were all right, but he can't.]

I think I'm supposed to say that's the weirdest thing I've ever heard, but my life is such that I believe six impossible things before breakfast, etc., so.

We've been scrambling a bit for various reasons--I didn't wake up too long ago just after the dinosaur stampede (yes, dinosaur stampede!! there are dinosaurs) and then the Authorities blew up a bunch of stuff, so I haven't gotten a lot of time to do a lot of analysis on the ship's computers, but it's definitely not from where or *when* I come from. Haven't cracked the entire db yet, but working on it. Hoping to be able to get the ship's logs eventually, but it's locked down pretty tight.

Most other tech out here seems to be 20th/21st cent. Earth--I assume that'll mean something to you since you speak English. Probably more advanced tech inside the dome thingers, but only one of us has ever gotten in there for even a short time.

[Well, how can she not smile at that, despite everything?] Dr. Jocelyn Xavier, and the pleasure is mine.

I'm afraid we don't know much about the Dome itself. The Outer Authorities appear to be their law enforcement. You'll know them by their masks and armour.

Their technology seems to be highly advanced. They'll usually be in small, weaponised hovercraft.

I'll keep an eye out for them, thanks.

...Do you need any help? At the hospital, I mean. I have some experience as a physician, though I'm not actually registered, and my degree was in nuclear physics, with some biochemistry on the side.

[He brightens considerably at that.] Not personally, no, but the hospital can always use more hands.

[Then - well, he'd intently deny that he's pouting.] I persistently remind people of that but they keep telling me to lie down.

The 'Loki' you refer to, I think he was here.

He was actually rather kind to me. And many others.

[Loki may have gone, but Wing would not let his memory be twisted.]

[Bruce just stares. Not because of the fact that it's a giant robot, but because of what he said.]

I don't think we're talking about the same Loki. Because the one I know doesn't do kind, unless it's a trick or brainwashing. He's more the "I'm going to invade and conquer your planet with a bunch of my alien friends and make you all my slaves" kind of guy.

Loki. He fell from the Bifrost. He hit a ship on his way down, I think.

He helped rescue many of your kind when there was a gas attack, and he did some repairs on me.

I don't know how that could be a 'trick'. Or to what end. We are all simply trying to survive here. Even him.

[Well, that's disturbing. But at least Bruce knows he can handle him, if Loki tries anything. The Other Guy did smash him into a pulp, after all.]

Is he still here?

I haven't seen him in quite some time. We lost many during the stampede.

Or maybe he completed his spell on his own.

[That was worrying--they'd never know the results.]

[Bruce is afraid to ask, but he does.] What spell?
