...Why the fuck do I have this mirror thing? It looks like a small version of that creepy mirror Merrill had. What did she call it? An Elveluian? Elusivan? Something, I don't remember. But I do remember something about it being possessed by demons? Is this damn thing possessed? Why do I have it?

I assure you, there is nothing supernatural about this. [Says the blue woman who is very obviously not human.] The device in your hand is a form of communicator. The shape appears to be tailored to the expectations of the person granted it.

You are on a downed space-faring vessel on a planet called Verdana. The outside environment is capable of supporting human life, although the wildlife is dangerous enough that it is a good idea to go armed.

Even assuming the beings you met were truly demons and not merely another sentient species reviled for being different, I am no supernatural creature. My people are called the asari, and our world is very far from your own.

Oh, trust me, the demons I know are demons. I was nearly taken in by one myself once. Still kicking myself for letting my guard down, but then, when a barely clothed, big breasted woman is offering me a free ship, it's easy to forget she actually just wants to take over my body and use it to kill everything in sight.

...I suppose you are a bit off from what demons look like...

Nor can I offer a ship, although aside from possession, that does not sound entirely different from some of the less pleasant merchants I knew on Illium.

[Have +1 fetchingly silver-templed space marine to go with your blue alien, Isabela. Kaidan appears to be somewhere outside, with buildings behind him and blue sky above. Booted out of his workspace to get some fresh air, probably, which explains his answering the message.]

You've probably already gotten the basic rundown of the situation, but the device isn't any more possessed than any other sort of communication equipment. It's a way to contact other people who've woken up aboard the ship, like you and I, but you should be aware that it's possible to eavesdrop on conversations had over it.

[This looks like yet another one of the medieval-but-not people the ship seems to have been springing lately. Kaidan lifts a hand, rubbing at one temple, and attempts to yank his assumptions back a few centuries.]

The big metal structure that's crashed into the ground. Space ship, for travelling between stars, not a sailing ship. Although they, uh, do have those here too.

[Her expression lights up at that last bit, and the rest of what he had to say goes ignored.]

[The conversation's just taken a sharp veer away from Kaidan's limited experience with how these intro's usually go. The rubbing at his temples redoubles.]

You a ship's captain, then?

Yup. Though I lost it in a storm several years ago. I've been shipwrecked in Kirkwall ever since.

[This is a response he understands. Even if he hates this gods-forsaken little thing, he'll try and be helpful. Still, the answering face is upside down for a moment before it frowns and is fumbled into place. It's a perfectly ordinary, slightly-sour face.]

It's not possessed that I can make out. Certainly no demons, not that it's a word I approve of. Most people have no idea what it means and it's so imprecise as to... Ahem. Sorry. Up all night. You're in another world. Congratulations. I don't like it either.

Another world? What does that even mean?

I could give you a run-down of postulated theory, mostly outdated and slightly discredited, but that doesn't seem to have much to do with any actuality. For practical purposes, you're somewhere you haven't been before, where you're unlikely to run into anyone you know, and where you're apparently meant to serve some esoteric purpose for the betterment of the locals. And there doesn't seem to be a way back to where you started. At least, that's been my experience so far.

I'm Wing. I was one of the first refugees to awaken here. Most of us on this network, like you, came here from somewhere else.

The Old City has both. A 'Flop' for refugees of your size and I believe some intoxicants, if that's what you're after. I can take you there, or show you the way. It's not far.
