[Oh hey, this is Isabela, staring at her communicator and looking rather skeptical and concerned.]
...Why the fuck do I have this mirror thing? It looks like a small version of that creepy mirror Merrill had. What did she call it? An Elveluian? Elusivan? Something, I don't remember. But I do remember something about it being possessed by demons? Is this damn thing possessed? Why do I have it?
[None of this rant will probably make sense to anyone, of course...]
Oh, and where in the name of Andraste's tits am I?!

[This looks like yet another one of the medieval-but-not people the ship seems to have been springing lately. Kaidan lifts a hand, rubbing at one temple, and attempts to yank his assumptions back a few centuries.]
The big metal structure that's crashed into the ground. Space ship, for travelling between stars, not a sailing ship. Although they, uh, do have those here too.

Do they now? And where might I find one?

[The conversation's just taken a sharp veer away from Kaidan's limited experience with how these intro's usually go. The rubbing at his temples redoubles.]
You a ship's captain, then?

If it wasn't for the Authorities, I bet someone could blast a canal through... but if there were no Authorities, there probably wouldn't be a dome to mess up the currents.

[Kaidan's tone is subtly teasing, and an amused light lingers in his eyes.]
But, fair enough.

[Kaidan's tone grows a little more formal at that, his expression cool and watchful.]
There's not much in the way of law here, but if you want a piece of free advice, don't try anything dishonest on the locals.

You have no grounds to take any threat I make seriously, so I won't bother making one. But you don't look like a stupid woman to me, so think about this.
There are less than thirty of us here. There are a couple thousand people in the Old City. Winter is coming, they know where the food and shelter is, and they're the only people on this planet who've been willing to do things like provide basic supplies and shelter to people who've turned up with nothing but what they can carry and no idea of how this world works.
So don't fuck this up. Ma'am.
