This is an open broadcast, so I'm not going into too many specifics, but I'm taking a trip back to the port town to make some shipping arrangements. This will be a much lighter and faster trip than the last one, as we'll be going on horseback.

Assuming that I don't doom us all with my equestrian skills, I could use a couple people interested in coming along as outriders -- you should be able to ride and capable of defending yourself and, um, me, if it comes down to it. Bring small goods if you're interested in trading for goods or supplies in a more varied market -- like the Old City, the port town functions on a barter economy rather than a currency-based one.

[SO HEY, Pepper's going to try and make arrangements to get a grain shipment for the Old City, since the crops aren't too awesome right now. This isn't a full-on plot like last time, just a little thing what can be done. Bruce-mun's already on board with this, ~~but I could use one more person if you're interested!~~ Got my second person! But Pepper's likely to be making a lot more trips, so if not this time for people, then certainly future. (Or she can set you up to go in your own group too!)]

[Pepper's look is one of hearing a word but associating no meaning to it. Her lower lip catches briefly between her teeth before the smartphone she's been relying on as a tiny bit of computing power is whipped out and notes commence being taken.]

I'm not familiar with energon, but if you can describe it, I can ask after it. If it's something you'd be able to create from raw materials, I can also ask after those, too.

The refined state is a pink liquid. I can forward you the chemical compound. It's normally found as an ore on our world. And there are stories that Shockwave--a scientist--had seeded other worlds with it for terraforming.

Please do. Especially since if the raw ore is found, I know someone who might be able to do something with that.

[If Tony can whip up a miniature arc reactor while being held hostage in a cave...]

May I ask what the refined state is used for? That might also help me narrow down whether anyone's been working with it.

[He sends a small datapacket to her, what any Cybertronian of education knows of energon.]

Ah. Well.

It is our fuel.

[Yyyeah. You see why he's asking for it.]

Oh Wing, I'm sorry. I didn't even think that the food shortage would be something that would affect you, too.

[Pepper looks dreadfully earnest, eyes flicking quickly as she calls the data packet up on her screen.]

I'll make sure to have someone keep an eye out for the ore, and I'll see if I can't show this to Tony. He might have ideas for processing it.

Oh, it's not critical. But it's something I wish we could solve before it became so. I can use solar power to charge up if necessary, but it's not quite as good.

Salad instead of steak, huh?

[Because that reference is going to make any sense at all to a giant robot, Pepper.]

Well, I can't promise miracles, but I'll give the information on the ore to our contact, along with the idea that the refined product -- which only we could refine for her -- is valuable. At the very least, she can keep an eye out for it.

[The reference makes no sense to him but he'll nod, anyway.]

I'd appreciate it. But I don't mean to add too much to your list. And I could do something to recompense you?"

Well, if I can even think of anything -- and that's not a slight against what you can offer.

I just honestly can't think of all that much -- I have an apartment, a friend's helped repair it, my work with Edmund and Nem's meant that I'm not lacking for food or clothing, and most of what I'd do to relax isn't something this world has.

I suppose next time I have to take a trip in a hurry, if you could fly me part of the way? You'd still need to land out of sight of whatever town was the destination, but that would still shave a lot of time off travel.

There's no slight. I don't think I could have helped you with any of those things at all. Every day I am reminded how small my world back home had become.

But I would love to fly you, whenever you need.

Then I'll let you know. If you fly around on your own at all and notice any places that look interesting to investigate, I wouldn't mind hearing about them, too. My local geography's got some pretty big gaps in it, right now.

Do you have a map of what you already know? I could concentrate on filling in gaps, maybe?

[He doesn't want to sound too pushy, but the idea of doing some real good, something really useful, is sparking him to life.]

Edmund would probably be the best source of current maps, and for historical ones... well, see if you can fit in the Vault of Knowledge, if Nem will let you. Or you could send someone with a historical bent in to look for you.

Once you've got that, I know for a fact that Edmund is very interested in what cartographers can bring him.

Edmund. He's one of the Old Citizens, yes?

[He's been reluctant to approach the indigenous humans. Especially after the hospital incident.]

He is, but don't worry too much -- his primary interest is commerce, and if you're offering to help him make that easier, then he probably couldn't care less if you're a robot, a human, or something from the deep ocean with tentacles.
