It's curious - a recurring word, or perhaps a theme. 'Salvation'. Is it to mean that this is meant for us, for our salvation or perhaps a rather more subtle meaning.

[ This is known as 'Helen woke up and went exploring'. She's guarded though, hence the text, and far too curious for her own good. But Helen likes answers, not that she'd been able to find any - there's far too little power in the ship for full access to the database, but the ship itself is something else - and her next port ]

Latin, Italian, some possibly more ancient, or perhaps simply unknown. [ Forgotten, or alien. Vampires and Praxians have had their own language, and she's met aliens. She doesn't doubt the possibility of that ] Perhaps a reach out of someone wishing to be heard?

I wonder if they received an answer.

That's a good question itself. [ She only has the more simple - the actual - answer itself, not everything she would like to go with it (meaning where they are, what has happened and what is currently going on) ] I'm on the ship.

Well, there's a lot of cargo loaded on board, at least. Suggests a mission beyond just the quick'n'dirty. Did you find the ship's name somewhere, or a mission log or something?

It still leaves a lot to the imagination as to what the mission could have been. And no, not yet. I haven't been able to make much headway with the computer. [ And not because it's difficult either ]

Well, if you happen to make any headway, I'd be damn glad to hear about it. I haven't had the time to take a good look at the ship, thanks to other things, but it seems like a pretty big series of clues as to just what the hell we're all doing here.

I'll let you know. [ Perhaps. It depends on what she finds, and if she can decide to trust him. A mysterious place, and mysterious texter, don't give much ] There's certainly a lot of the ship, and I've a long way to go with it. [ The ship as well as the computers ]

[ Gosh, you can't just mention information like that to a curious entity. But she's biting ] I may have to take you up on that, another body would certainly speed up the search - and you may notice something that I don't. [ Or find a different interpretation.

And... she can't help herself ] May I ask the nature of those project? Are they related to the ship? [ Getting everything she can, especially to her 'project' at hand ]

Not at this time. They're related to more, ah, basic concerns for the local population. There was a raid, and some critical resources were compromised.

[ Oh dear, to put it mildly ] How long ago was this?

Roughly three weeks ago. The locals are understandably upset, as it was one of the ship people, like us, who brought it all down on their heads. I've been working on some stopgap measures, others have been trying to forage, and I believe a woman named Ms. Potts has been looking into trade. But it's a little hairy right now, as you might expect.

[longaevus]

Do you know whom it was which caused this? And how the locals are doing since then? [ Has anyone helped them? ]

[standsentinel]

Well, like I said, people are doing what they can. If you know any ways to rapidly boost crop yield, or ways to process or culture algae or seaweed or other resources, it'd be a help. Hell, at this point I'd be willing to buy into magic, if it would provide something tangible.

Trade's the likely answer, though. And I do know the 'whom', but this is starting to get clsoe to things I'd rather talk about off the comm network. Filtered isn't the same as encrypted, after all.

[The voice is quiet, and trembles just a little, although it is from fatigue rather than sentiment.]

It is ours. It was meant for all. But they broke it.

The ship? [ It's a guess, since that's where she is, since that is word the word repeats ] What did you mean by it?

[There's a brief pause.]

The messenger doesn't write the message. But the message is lost.

[She's a little cracked. Sorry, Helen.]

[ She's picking that up, slowly. But that's okay, she can get more specific ] What happened when you arrived?

[Her tone is wryly pensive.]

I'll admit, that's not a possibility I'd considered.

If that was their plan, I'm afraid it's not progressing very well. Not for everyone. [Not for her.]

Perhaps then something interrupted that process. [ If 'salvation' was an attempt at something, rather than a meaning they may not yet understand ] It would help if there was more to go on, however I haven't found any other writing.
