[Video | 005: A Quest Arrow Appears!] Monday Evening, Week 12
[To say that Pepper's looking like she's been over twenty miles of bad road is really just stating the truth at this point. (And underselling it -- it's been a lot more than twenty miles, all totalled.). Still, she's back in town, her apartment's spartan furnishings visible behind her as she lays claim to a couch that's seen better days but is, blessedly, not a horse.
There remains a businesslike gleam to her eyes all the same: Pepper, it appears, has A Plan.]
I haven't managed death by horse, thanks largely to Captain Rogers and Dr. Banner, and I've got potential good news on the food situation. However, it's not really straightforward, and not really something to discuss over the network.
What I can say is that we've been asked to retrieve some goods as payment, that I have a map, but that it's very old, and that I've been warned about hazards in the location. So, while I can bring this to you, it's not something I can honestly handle myself.
If you're interested in either going along with or leading an expedition to do some treasure hunting, let me know. And if you have experience with translating very old maps, I'd very much like to hear from you. I'll be at my apartment for, um... well, let's just say that not moving sounds like an absolutely amazing idea right now.

As for advanced technology, at least this far, and possibly further -- the technology being used to communicate here seems a little advanced to my eyes, but I'm not an expert in it, and its function seems similar to technology from my own world.
Whatever is in that vault? Well, it's something that was considered valuable enough to protect for centuries.
[Filtered Voice:]
So this is a treasure hunting expedition more than a search for trade-able goods. I see. I have never been on such, but I do not believe in standing idly by when there is need. The food situation demonstrates need.
[Filtered Voice:]
And... I guess you could call it treasure hunting? That makes me feel like some sort of daring hero rather than a businesswoman, but I guess it's not inaccurate. It's more... meeting the terms of an agreement, I'd say. The captain will bring us grain in exchange for the contents. And it was suggested to me that I might want to arrange two groups -- one to handle the location itself, and one to get the first group there and back safely.
Um. Which would you be, do you think?
[Filtered Voice:]
[There's a pause as she considers.]
Escort. I am proficient in what I do; there is little reason to stray from that.
Re: [Filtered Voice:]
And I think the group will very much be in need of escorts. At the very least, I'd like to put you forward as an option to whoever ends up leading the expedition. If they end up opting for someone else, I'd still like to talk with you about other excursions -- my first trip out ended up running into bandits on the way back.
[Filtered Voice:]
I will also of course speak with you even if I am not required for the expedition. I have defended against many foes in my time, and learned and taught defense as well. None of that would be a new experience. It has been some time since I instructed, however, and longer yet since I studied.

Let me know when you've settled in -- I tend to pass by the Flop frequently enough, although I've been doing most of my work at the hospital.
