hawkejunior: (BRING IT ON BRO)

First Report [Video]

[By now, Carver and his sister have been frightened enough times by the bizarre, talking magical books that appeared in their possessions. They speak in voices and change every day, so it took some tinkering before they were able to figure out how, precisely, to work them.

But now they have. Sort of.

Carver's face appears in the image, glaring, focused in entirely too close for him to know what he's doing with it. He taps on it a few times and once he can see himself, tries to adjust so he's a little easier to see.
]

Hello? Is anyone there? Can anyone hear me? [It statics, because he's yelling into it.] Maker! Damn this blighted thing...

[Giving up on trying to make the communicator work, he goes back to the subject at hand.]

If anyone can hear this, my name is Warden-Ensign Carver Hawke. My sister and I- I don't know how we got here, but we're here. We came out of that- that metal building back there.

We're holed up in a little shack not far from that metal building, on the south side of the mountain. I don't know if anyone else is out there, but if they are--

[He coughs, clears his throat, and his voice turns all business.]

I'm going to go ahead and assume this is somewhere in the Anderfels, so you'll probably know what a Grey Warden is. So in that case I'd like to request some food and supplies for both myself and my sister, who is not a Warden, but you're going to be damned bloody sorry if you refuse to her.

And if nobody else is out there... well, then we're in a pile of shit, aren't we...

Warden-ensign?

We are neither in the Anderfels, nor are we in any territory that would know what a Grey Warden is, but I would take some interest in knowing how, precisely, you are Warden instead of Templar.

Precisely the same thing you are doing here... Warden-ensign. I awoke in what is called the ship and came to the settlement nearby. It is hardly far from where you should be now, and there are food and supplies available.

East.

[She shakes her head. That was a delayed reaction.]

Yes. You were one of my men. But as I have already encountered some differences I am not entirely surprised.

[Nor was she happy about this. She'd almost had one of hers, almost.]

And your sister I knew as your brother.
intherite: (I tell you now)

[personal profile] intherite 2012-08-13 05:47 am (UTC)(link)
You were an excellent recruit. I'm more surprised to discover that you chose the Wardens.

[She stops. Surely no one had named their daughter Garrett. That would just be cruel.]

The Champion. I know him as male in my world, but at least one other knows him as female. That was whom you were were speaking of, was it not?
intherite: (Tell me another one)

[personal profile] intherite 2012-08-13 05:59 am (UTC)(link)
[She raises an eyebrow. The taint, then, likely. Little matter, though.]

You have two siblings.

[Why hadn't she known that? And she recalls that the brothers did not particularly see eye-to-eye. The title will be dropped for now.]

Was this sister in Kirkwall as well?

[She couldn't have been. The Champion couldn't have managed to hide a sister. Not with all the interest Kirkwall had in him.]

Metal...? Do you mean the ship? There is a settlement a little south and east, and farmland to the north. You can find both food and directions to more comfortable lodgings in both places.

If you remained near the ship, it should not be more than a half hour's walk, less if you're able to move quickly. Is either you or your sister injured?

[She pauses a moment.]

The natives are human, if that is a concern.

[Because the number of people familiar with other species is depressingly small.]

[She peers over his shoulder, frowning thoughtfully.]

Any lucky?
intherite: (I tell you now)

[personal profile] intherite 2012-08-13 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
You are saying she is dead but alive again. I am correct in what I am hearing?

[That sounds like blood magic necromancy to her, but with what this place has already proven itself capable of there is a chance of other causes. At least with those who had been brought back it was... rather obvious. Rot was not easily hidden. One glance was all it would take, though surely he was wise enough to not let emotion stand in the way if this Bethany was indeed like that.]

Bring yourself and her to the settlement. I would hear your version of events in Kirkwall.

[And so she falls back into the easy pattern of giving orders to those from home.]
relicrebellion: (Awk. Ward.)

[personal profile] relicrebellion 2012-08-13 06:43 am (UTC)(link)
I do not know how well anyone can allay your confusion, but we can certainly try.

[She sighs, just a little.]

My species is called the asari. My own name is Liara T'Soni.
intherite: (Got my peeps)

[personal profile] intherite 2012-08-13 06:47 am (UTC)(link)
...I said it was to the east.

[Clearly being a Warden had slowed him. Delayed reaction on Templar and now this...

None the worse for the wear, though. So perhaps it was simply a matter of time. Sebastian didn't know of the Chantry, Bethany had not yet died. Was that possible? Meredith didn't have enough information to know. But she would take his word for it, and dismissed the sister as inconsequential for the moment. Later she'd need to find out more; a sibling of the Champion was no small matter. But there were other matters to attend to.]

Poor. They have suffered many attacks and it shows. But there is shelter and food, and some who know a few details of this world, and so it suffices.

What occurred most recently in the city, to the best of your knowledge?

[Not that there were Wardens in the city at the moment, so far as she knew.]
relicrebellion: (Consult my notes)

No, it is just - an entirely too familiar question for comfort.

[There's another brief pause, and she frowns slightly in puzzlement.]

I do not think I have ever met an..."elf", was it?

[The tone reminded her that he wasn't hers. Well. She'd have to work on that. After all, what brought him to the Templars in the first place must still be intact.]

There are shacks out there? Does it appear to be another settlement, though abandoned, or is it just the one?

[She sighs at his lack of details. They're in a place that's full of confusion, and this is less than helpful. But patience was needed. Still not hers.]

I know the Wardens have not been there in some time. What had occurred when you were last there? Do you recall a Qunari uprising?
