First Report [Video]
[By now, Carver and his sister have been frightened enough times by the bizarre, talking magical books that appeared in their possessions. They speak in voices and change every day, so it took some tinkering before they were able to figure out how, precisely, to work them.
But now they have. Sort of.
Carver's face appears in the image, glaring, focused in entirely too close for him to know what he's doing with it. He taps on it a few times and once he can see himself, tries to adjust so he's a little easier to see.]
Hello? Is anyone there? Can anyone hear me? [It statics, because he's yelling into it.] Maker! Damn this blighted thing...
[Giving up on trying to make the communicator work, he goes back to the subject at hand.]
If anyone can hear this, my name is Warden-Ensign Carver Hawke. My sister and I- I don't know how we got here, but we're here. We came out of that- that metal building back there.
We're holed up in a little shack not far from that metal building, on the south side of the mountain. I don't know if anyone else is out there, but if they are--
[He coughs, clears his throat, and his voice turns all business.]
I'm going to go ahead and assume this is somewhere in the Anderfels, so you'll probably know what a Grey Warden is. So in that case I'd like to request some food and supplies for both myself and my sister, who is not a Warden, but you're going to be damned bloody sorry if you refuse to her.
And if nobody else is out there... well, then we're in a pile of shit, aren't we...

[An awkward pause.]
Is Brother here?
no subject
Maybe you should refer to your siblings by name, because I have to confess now to being a little confused. Is...Bethany there with you?
no subject
Yes. It's Bethany. Please don't ask me how.
no subject
Garrett's not here that I've seen. I've heard that Anders and Fenris are, and I know that Sebastian is.
[Although she can imagine that Carver doesn't care about them.]
no subject
But this is a good opportunity to ask.]
Sebastian who?
no subject
Oh, heads up -- he seems to think that Garrett's female, not a mage, and married to him. Genuinely believes as far as I can tell, not just being...difficult.
no subject
Though if that's what he believes, he sounds like a lunatic.
no subject
[Works with is perhaps not the most accurate way to phrase it. 'Follows around' might be more accurate.]
no subject
And I know my brother is an idiot, but making nice with a Chantry brother sounds like a particularly steep new low.
no subject
But then, I'm surprised with this from you, seeing as you became a Templar.
no subject
[A sigh.]
Wouldn't you think there'd be a bit of a conflict of interest if I became a Templar? It'd be like you being the captain of the Guard and running a smuggling ring on the side.
no subject
But it's a little different with your brother, Carver.
no subject
What's that supposed to mean?

And even if I did, it's none of your bloody business! Maybe I was just looking for something to do with my life that wasn't the guard!
no subject
[But why would he?]
You seem awfully defensive about it for claiming it never happened.
no subject
In any case, it didn't. You're the second person who thinks I'm a templar, and I'm definitely not. Unless the templars fight darkspawn all of a sudden.
no subject
And how did you even become a Grey Warden?
no subject
[He huffs.]
Remember the Deep Roads expedition we went on? That's how.

Look, I've had several people tell me that they remember things differently than I do. Maybe you do too.
