first salvation ✝ video.
[ So there's this girl chilling out on some rock outside right now. She ventured out a little to try to get an idea of where she is, but... ]
As unlikely as this is, I have to ask- Did I timeslide in my sleep? [ She looks around warily at the landscape. She looks a little confused, but mostly annoyed as she addresses the video again. ] Not that I can without a time device of some sort, but this looks like the places I grew up in.
[ A pause. ]
Or did Bete Noire get a remodel while I was away? [ Because that's the only other option here really.
Behind her a large dog pops up to nuzzle at her, making her nearly fall and drop the communicator as she tries to shove it off a bit. Just enough so that she doesn't fall before she's reaching out to hug the big ball of fur. ] I'm leaning towards nuclear apocalypse in Bete Noire that somehow The Dog survived right now.
Anyone want to give me the real details? Thanks.

[She hesitates, then, because frankly Erik make enemies wherever he goes - but she'll realise he's here regardless, and if she's an ally...
All the same, her voice lowers.]
Do you know Erik Lehnsherr?
video
There were two of them.
Which one?
Video
With a wry fondness...] I don't suppose "arrogant and stubborn" narrows it down.
video
That's every Erik in every dimension ever.
[ Little more serious. ]
Did he mention blowing up a tower? [ Being hopeful here. ]
Video
[And then just. A flat look.] He did not. That, however, doesn't mean it didn't occur.
...I'd like to ask you something, but this network isn't entirely secure. [She raises her fingers to her temples, raising her eyebrows. If she knows Erik, chances are good she knows an Xavier or two, so she might recognise the gesture.]
video
This is a new one. Not what she was expecting. ]
Xavier?

Video
video
I can't seem to escape Xavier's.
I'm Hope. Hope Summers.
Video
I hope I haven't given you much trouble. [Her smile falters, just slightly.]

video
[Dammit, she's just going to ask. Not, however, where anyone can see.]
Are you a mutant, Hope?
video
That part I'm proud of. /
Video
I'm glad.
Can I ask what your abilities are?
video
Though it makes Hope grin and laugh a bit. It's always good to not be alone. ]
/ I'm a power mimic. I can copy another mutant's powers without having to touch them.
Also x-gene stabilization. If a mutant's powers are out of control I can stabilize them. /
[ Since last time she forgot to tell Erik that and he was a little surprised.... ]
Video
That's extraordinary.
[...And the jubilant excitement fades, a little.]
You'll want to be careful about using your abilities. The Outer Authorities have power neutralising collars.
[Her words are altogether grim, now.]
I can attest to their unpleasantness.
video
Except now Hope's really not amused. ]
/ I can already tell I'm not going to get along with these Authorities. /
Video
Miraculously enough, few do.
The term bully doesn't truly suffice, but it's accurate enough.]
ideo
Do they have any abilities themselves? /
video
Their weakness lay in their body armour; rupture it, and they're finished.
[She dearly wishes she wasn't discussing battle tactics with a teenager, but what choice does she have?]
video
/ So they can't stand the atmosphere out here? Hence the mask and armor right? And them falling apart when it's ruptured? /
video
Precisely. They also fear contaminants - their immune systems may be weak, or perhaps they're simply paranoid.
