[ So there's this girl chilling out on some rock outside right now. She ventured out a little to try to get an idea of where she is, but... ]

As unlikely as this is, I have to ask- Did I timeslide in my sleep? [ She looks around warily at the landscape. She looks a little confused, but mostly annoyed as she addresses the video again. ] Not that I can without a time device of some sort, but this looks like the places I grew up in.

[ A pause. ]

Or did Bete Noire get a remodel while I was away? [ Because that's the only other option here really.

Behind her a large dog pops up to nuzzle at her, making her nearly fall and drop the communicator as she tries to shove it off a bit. Just enough so that she doesn't fall before she's reaching out to hug the big ball of fur. ] I'm leaning towards nuclear apocalypse in Bete Noire that somehow The Dog survived right now.

Yeah, when I move through time but stay in one place. Haven't done that in awhile, though.

I've heard this isn't Earth. Still wonder if all this is natural or if something happened if the freaks in the Dome don't like it out here.

It is definitely not Earth. I am fairly certain Verdana is not in the same galaxy as Earth. And the devastation is certainly not natural - the domes were constructed in response to a war, centuries ago.

[ War. Of course. Even in another galaxy. She rolls her eyes, even if Liara can't see. ]

Figures. Is that where the ship came from?

I do not believe so. The technology does not appear to be of human design, and both this planet and its sister appear to be human colonies. If it is somehow human, it is still far more advanced than anything I have seen on this planet, including the dome itself.

[She pauses for a long moment.]

You - said you needed a device for this time travel? So you could not go back and see how this began, even were it safe to do so.

[ That's some real good information at least. About the human factor and the other factor. She's not a scientist, but it's good to know for handling the people. ]

So possibly inhuman... Wonder what the Authorities have to say on it.

If I had a device, I'd take that chance and look. Unfortunately my dad had the device and used all the jumps it had left after it broke.

While it occurred before I awoke, I believe they made an effort to destroy it entirely. They certainly do not seem pleased with the sudden influx of offworlders, as few of us as there may be.

Makes you wonder if they had problems with offworlders in the past.

Or if they're trying to hide something.

The war that prompted the creation of the domes was interplanetary. I believe it is safest to assume the answer is "both".

I never really liked people who kept secrets.

Some secrets are necessary. Those that require the deaths of civilians to keep, however, are rarely among them.
