[the video feed flickers on, showing a young woman with a frustrated expression sitting in front of a smoldering heap of scrap metal. Maybe it used to be an X-Wing. It's hard to tell, really. In her hands is something that looks like a high-tech blow torch, which she uses to weld two pieces of metal together. Once Jaina sees that the connection is stable, she sets it down to look at the recorder ]
Judging from the fact that there's an active network of...some kind here, I'm guessing whoever I'm talking to is able to patch me through to someone who is able to get me parts for a standard X-Wing fighter. Networking.
[ she rolls her shoulders and eyes simultaneously ]
As you can see, I'm having a little trouble getting off the ground. The sooner someone gets me flying the better- don't worry about repairs. I can handle most of them myself. I just need parts.
Now, payment. Since that is typically the first concern for parts dealers in remote sectors like this. Creds are in the other flight suit, but as soon as I get back to base I can guarantee you'll be compensated. I have access to Republic funds. I'm transferring my coordinates for delivery.
Following me so far, mortals? Good. See to it that the Great One is pleased.
[ with a sigh, she turns and goes to start up the blow-torch again ]
Re: [Video]
Unfriendly as in shoot first, ask later? Or unfriendly as in not invited to the dinner parties?
[ the name doesn't register ]
Republic space. Near mid-rim. I'm guessing you're part of the operation here?
Re: [Video]
[The humour that pairs with that matter of fact statement is, like the clothing, pure military what-the-hell-is-it-now underpinning. The backdrop behind him suggests he's out somewhere near the city's edge, perched on some bit of debris.]
'Operation' isn't what I'd call it, and the only spacefaring republics I'm personally familiar with are the Asari Republics. And you are decidedly not blue with head-tentacles, so I'm thinking we might need to compare notes.
Re: [Video]
Well, if nothing else I might as well use the experience to brush up on my geography. Asari? I'm guessing that's Outer Rim?

[Kaidan's gently rasped tone is thoughtful: measured and considering and therefore not being intentionally obtuse.]
So, uh, theoretical physics time. Heard of the 'many worlds' hypothesis?
Re: [Video]
[ a deep, deep sigh ]
For once I'd just like to land somewhere where I wasn't subjected to philosophical debate.
Re: [Video]
[The sigh earns a bit of a wry smile, appreciative if not apologetic.]
Believe it or not, I know the feeling. If it makes it go down any easier, I have just gotten a still up and running, if you want to follow the example of generations of philosophers and drink while debating.
Re: [Video]
And if by still you mean something that pours out alcohol, consider me interested. [ she looks at her ship, groans ] I think my fighter's a lost cause at this point.
Hang on... I'll send you a map of where we can meet up.
[Whatever notification noise Kaina's comm has sat up pings -- there is indeed a picture, somewhat rough around the edges, that gives a rough layout of the City and some locations.]
Re: [Video]
I think I can manage that. Looks easy enough.
[ she looks at him, eyebrows raised ]
Never thought trading intel on living ships was going to help me get to meet people. [ she eyerolls, but it's in good humor ]
[Kaidan's delivery is perfectly deadpan, although he soon leavens it with a crooked smile.]
I'll take you the rest of the way to my workshop from there. Paranoia settings, y'know.
