[Shepard's spent some time poking around the ship before she tries to contact outside, because it's just plain weird to end up on an alien ship out of the blue, even for her.]

This is Commander Shepard of the SSV Normandy, Alliance Navy. I'm requesting any information available on the current status and location of my ship and crew. Last known location was the planet Mars in the Sol System, but something seems to have... gone wrong.

[which is the nicest way she can think of putting it.]

Barring any of that, I'd settle for my own location because even that seems like too much to ask from my hardsuit NAV.

Yeah, you're right. That does sound a lot crazy. But I guess since I just woke up in a pod with no memory of how I ended up in there, crazy's the flavor of the day.

So, uh, just how much crazy are you up for, at the moment?

[It's still an audio-only call, but the words are almost visibly paired with the habitual gesture of his hand at the back of his neck, fingers probing the edges of his implant site.]

Because... well, there's a lot more. Starting with the fact that you've been here before, I guess.

[There's a moment of silence before she speaks again]

I'm pretty sure I haven't been here before, Kaidan. Place seems pretty memorable, and I don't remember it.

Yeah, that's, uh, no guarantee.

[He actually sounds faintly apologetic about it.]

You'd be the third person I know of who's been here before, been returned to the pods, and then woken back up with no memory of being here before. So if anyone pings your comm and seems to know you, they might not actually be messing with you.

You know how nuts that sounds, right?

[She lets out a sigh]

So I'm guessing you've been -here for a while?

[standsentinel]

Intimately.

[Kaidan's sigh is soft and rueful, and all too aware of all those other L2s out there with their psychological complications.]

But yeah -- a little over two months now. Long enough to be able to give a halfway decent sitrep, although I'd, ah, recommend you don't ask for it over these comms.

Wasn't going to, but if we're going to have this conversation in person I might need directions.

How about I meet you halfway? If you're still on the ship, I can meet you there and give you the guided tour of the local post-apocalyptic ruins.

There's been a few packs of scavengers in close to the city and while I'm pretty sure you can handle 'em, they, uh, aren't exactly varren.

[Better to let Shepard see the dinosaurs rather than add on additional crazy at this point, apparently.]
