001◢ AUDIO; FRIDAY EVENING
[Shepard's spent some time poking around the ship before she tries to contact outside, because it's just plain weird to end up on an alien ship out of the blue, even for her.]
This is Commander Shepard of the SSV Normandy, Alliance Navy. I'm requesting any information available on the current status and location of my ship and crew. Last known location was the planet Mars in the Sol System, but something seems to have... gone wrong.
[which is the nicest way she can think of putting it.]
Barring any of that, I'd settle for my own location because even that seems like too much to ask from my hardsuit NAV.

[Beat.]
If your navigation system's reliant on any external network, you're not going to get an answer.
[Audio]
Is there a local navigation network I can reconfigure to, or do I need to find someone to draw me a map of this place?

[And since he didn't actually reply for no other reason than to be annoying, he does send along text directions from the ship to the most critical locations - the Flop, the hospital, Edmund's depot.
Not a map, maybe, but it's better than nothing.]
[Audio]
[text directions what is this Oregon Trail. oh well, better than she had a second ago!]
[Audio]
[Don't be ridiculous. Oregon trail has more cows.]

[That's definitely Kaidan's voice on the comm, but there's something off about the timbre: should Kaidan, given recent history, really sound so excited to hear her, much less relieved?
Regardless of if he should, he certainly does, and is halfway into an urgent] Where did you go--[before the last known location sinks in. There's an audible huff of breath before he gathers himself.]
It's Kaidan. This is going to sound a little-- no, make that a lot-- crazy, but you're on a planet called Verdana, some unknown time in the future, and I'm not actually sure we're in our own galaxy.
no subject
Yeah, you're right. That does sound a lot crazy. But I guess since I just woke up in a pod with no memory of how I ended up in there, crazy's the flavor of the day.

[It's still an audio-only call, but the words are almost visibly paired with the habitual gesture of his hand at the back of his neck, fingers probing the edges of his implant site.]
Because... well, there's a lot more. Starting with the fact that you've been here before, I guess.
no subject
I'm pretty sure I haven't been here before, Kaidan. Place seems pretty memorable, and I don't remember it.
no subject
[He actually sounds faintly apologetic about it.]
You'd be the third person I know of who's been here before, been returned to the pods, and then woken back up with no memory of being here before. So if anyone pings your comm and seems to know you, they might not actually be messing with you.

[She lets out a sigh]
So I'm guessing you've been -here for a while?
no subject
[Kaidan's sigh is soft and rueful, and all too aware of all those other L2s out there with their psychological complications.]
But yeah -- a little over two months now. Long enough to be able to give a halfway decent sitrep, although I'd, ah, recommend you don't ask for it over these comms.

Want to switch this to a log?
There's been a few packs of scavengers in close to the city and while I'm pretty sure you can handle 'em, they, uh, aren't exactly varren.
[Better to let Shepard see the dinosaurs rather than add on additional crazy at this point, apparently.]
yessss!

[The white-haired teen looks bored. Probably because he is, or he wouldn't bother harassing random people on the network.]
You're nowhere near home, lady. Get used to it.

I thought you gone back to the ship.

I'm coming out of "the ship" right now. First time I've seen a ship like this, though.

[ Because Eliot certainly remembered her. ]

Take it you don't remember me either?
no subject
I'm afraid your voice isn't familiar though, no.
no subject
Name's Eliot Spencer. You were, well, before, one of the first people I met after wakin' up in this place.
Guess it's your turn now.
