[Video: Thursday Morning, Week 21]

Wanda is hardly happy to find herself naked in a pod. She’s even less happy that this is the second time in six weeks she’s found herself in an alien environment without prior warning.]

[She’s dressed now, though, and she’s got her communicator on. She’s not exactly smiling, but she looks much further from smashing everything in sight than she feels]

This is getting ridiculous. I’m the Scarlet Witch. Does that mean anything to anybody? [That echoes in her ears for a few seconds before she realizes how stuck up it sounds.] That’s not what I meant. [deep breath]

What I mean is: My name is Wanda Maximoff. I’m a mutant. From Genosha. [She takes another look around her surroundings.] Which is a country on Earth. I… [Wanda does not have much experience socializing outside an island nation ruled by her father, and her discomfort as she tries to figure out what a proper greeting sounds like is obvious.] Who else was abducted by aliens? [It’s a start]

[For a moment, the screen lurches around fast enough that the background is only a sickening blur. There's muffled talking and the occasional odd beeping sound in the background. Then a strangely familiar face appears. Except he's far too young, and so thin and pale that it can't be healthy, even for him. Pietro is gaping at the viewscreen.]

I- But- You- How- Wanda?!

[His voice squeaked a little, a mixture of surprise, fear, and disbelief.]

No, you're not- who are you?

[Yes, he knows about the alternate realities thing, but his brain isn't quite keeping up its normal pace right now.]

[There's a good deal of confusion on Wanda's face, though under it there are hints of a smile]

It's -- It's me, Pietro. I'm here. Relax. [Wanda also doesn't have a great handle on this situation, but she figures both of them freaking out won't help much. She tries to wipe the frustration and confusion off her face.]

Uh... uh no, you're not. I mean, I don't think you are...

[Pietro squints suspiciously at the screen. Wanda. Looking at him with... some sort of affection? That just didn't happen. Even after their father brainwashed her, she still seemed to find him unsettling. Not that he blamed her.]

Well, you're here, obviously. But you don't look like Wanda. And whatthehell's Genosha?

I think there's some sort of... timeline discrepancy. But Genosha is the country where we grew up. [frown] You don't remember?

Grew up in?

[Pietro raises an eyebrow.] I grew up in New York. And so did you... sort of. Except you're not my Wanda. [The hair's wrong, for one. Her natural color should be way darker. And she's just... not acting right.]

There's more than time discrepancies happening here.

[Wanda takes a little while to think that over.] I guess not. But you're still my brother, and we're here.

[She gives a half-smile] We should stick together.

[Pietro just stares at the screen for a moment in utter bafflement.]

You- you're very confusing, you know that? Is this some sort of trick? Gonna kill me in my sleep or something?

[He pauses to have a nasty-sounding coughing fit.]

[Wanda looks hurt] I wouldn't... I just want to help you, Pietro.

Are you alright?

[Yeah, he's at a complete loss here. That he and Wanda might have a normal sibling relationship in some other universe hasn't occurred to him.]

But... why?

I've been better. Just - damn - just don't come into the city, all right? There's a pretty nasty illness going around. I... kinda caught it. A little. [Or more than a little, from the looks of him.]

Because you're my brother, and from the looks of things of things, you're the only family I've got here. [Wanda knows her version of Pietro resents her for being Magneto's favorite, but this is pretty extreme]

I'll stay away for now, then.

Erik was here for a bit. [Pietro grimaces, rubbing his forehead.] Gone now. Back in the pods. Sometimes people go back - we don't know why. He was younger, though. Didn't know about us. [Briefly, until Hope ruined things.]

It's... kinda theplagueorsomething. I mean, I'm not going to die! Pff, won't even keep me down much longer. But they're working on some sort of vaccine, I think. From what I heard around the hospital.

[Wanda just nods. She's not even sure how she feels about her father these days, she's not going to press the subject with her brother.]

I'm sure you'll be running circles around everyone in no time. I'll look into getting vaccinated as soon as I can.

[Neither does Pietro. His family is a complicated subject.]

Uh, yeah. Good! That's... that's good. [So he doesn't want her to get sick! So what?] Anyone caught you up on the deal with this planet yet? [There. A nice, safe topic.]

Not exactly. I'm starting to get the picture, though.

You got the kidnapping part right, at least.

Well, there's also these bastards living in this city protected by some sort of... dome forcefield thing. They won some sort of war a long time ago, so now they've got all the tech and supplies, and we're living off what was left of the losers. And they still want to wipe us all out.

[He coughs again, ducking his head out of the screen for a minute.]

That's why I locked this transmission. They listen in. Nightcrawler and I kind of... uh, stole one of their hovercrafts when they tried to burn down the city the other day.

[Wanda feels an odd sort of relief at that. She's not happy that she's traded one nation of persecuted refugees threatened by bigots who vastly outnumbered and outgunned them for another, but it's what she's used to.] Some things never change. Who knows how many centuries and light-years from home we are, and still beset by ignorant oppressors.

Do you still have it?

You know, it's kinda freaky when you start talking like Magneto. [Considering how much his Wanda hates the man and everything he stands for]

And it's... around. Somewhere. It may or may not be in working condition. We can discuss it more when we're not on the network.

[Wanda shrugs] I may not agree with him about everything [she looks directly at Pietro, expression blank] and I definitely don't agree with him about you, but I still stand with him. Or I did [she looks around]

Right. Of course.

About... me? What about you? I... I think things must've gone pretty different for you. That or you're brainwashed again.

[Which might be the case. He wouldn't put it past any version of their father.]

Just, uh, try to get in contact with a doctor about that vaccine. There's one here named McCoy, but he's not any version of Beast, as far as I can tell. I'd avoid the freaky amphibian.

[Mordin keeps looking at Pietro like he wants to take him apart to see how he works.]

I'm not brainwashed! [Wanda wouldn't quite put it past her father either though.] I hope.

Anyway, this isn't a proper channel to talk about this either. I'll find this McCoy as quick as I can.

That's just what a brainwashed person would say. Just saying.

[Well, he's not sick enough to stop being a jackass.]

Yeah. I'll hang out here until you're safe. No idea if I'm contagious, y'know.

You're a brat no matter what universe you come from, you know that? [It's a friendly sisterly jibe!]

Hey, otherwise you couldn't be sure I'm me!

You're... different, though. Real different.[He actually looks a bit uncomfortable. All he can think of is how badly his Wanda is messed up, compared to this one.] So, uh, I'll see you when you get to the hospital, then.
