Fettered child [video] (week 23 - Thursday)
[ The video opens to the city's resident goddess, perched upon one of the tables inside the Flop. She's seated tailor-style, legs crossed, with some wood and her father's dagger in hand. To the left of her, there is more wood, but these woods are already carved -- complete. Sigyn has carved out one muscular, long-haired and bearded god, waving his mighty hammer in the air, a most arrogant expression on his face (oops, is the nose a little chipped?) and a long, billowing cape. Next to that carved god is another, this one lanky, thin, but a most surreptitious shape to his body. This god had received much more care than the other carving, though his features are gnarled and deceitful. Where the previous had a chipped nose, this carving had little imperfections. Sigyn had carefully carved his armor, surcoat and little daggers at his hips.
The god (or character) Sigyn is currently carving has yet to be seen. But she sets down the wood and dagger and takes the little carved goods into both hands and holds them up to the camera. ]
One of my many talents lies in carving. I will be most happy to make anyone a carved tool, toy or selection of furniture if need be. The only charge I ask of in exchange is for my customer to pay me with a story while I work.
[ She sets down the carved gods. ] I am also capable to providing long burning wood to those who rely upon fire to keep warm. As such ... [ She picks up the carved god waving his hammer -- then lights her hand with blue magic fire and instantly begins to burn the carving. ] ...you see?
[ She then makes a long-distance toss of the burning carving from the table to the fireplace, sending it into the soot and birthing a great, warm glowing sight of flames. The carving is nothing more than kindling now, and if someone looks at Sigyn's face closely, they will see the smug satisfaction upon her lips. ]

I've almost finished building my bower-bed, but decorating is is beyond me. I tell excellent stories, but it's rather heavy and already built into the ceiling, so you'd probably need to come to the house I stay in. So if you'd like more than a story for your trouble I could think of something.
[Chime is still stuck in his raksura form until his wing heals, so he hopes she doesn't mind the invitation from what looks like a dragon.]

Of course. I want to be sure to accommodate all customers' needs.

Alright. You can decorate any way you like. I haven't had much chance to see human artwork. This place is so plain. Though living in a mountain tree probably spoiled me.

[ She's making extra emphasis on that statement. ]

Oh, I'm sorry. Er... how do you tell?
[She looks human to him, but to a lot of groundlings, he looks Fell, so he certainly can't talk.]
no subject
[ Honestly, it is difficult to discern a human from a god, lest that god be obviously different, or without their coverings. ]

We have a sort of... sister race, too, that we get mistaken for. But I don't think it's very hard to tell us apart. And at least humans are perfectly nice and you don't have to convince people you won't eat them...

[There is a very faint undercurrent of amusesment to her voice, though her expression is unreadable.]
[Video]
[ She smiles wittily. ]
[Video]
[And yet, she does not seem actually chilled. Deadpan as this is, it's apparently meant to be banter.]
[Video]
[Video]
Sometimes. Others - well, there are those who have icewater in their veins even in high summer.
[Video]
[ She returns the flash of a smile with a smile of her own. ]

voice;
Shouldn't you be selling the merchandise instead of burning it?
voice;
It was not my best work. I would not give someone something less than perfect.
voice;
video;
This one is unimportant. Foreboding. Would you want a trickster such as this upon your mantle? No. Better to burn. [ She gives the statue a mournful look, before lighting the statue aflame with her magic. Burning, the wood begins to char. ] As is his nature. [ She tosses the statue into the flames of the already burning fire, causing the reds and yellows to rise, licking at the stones of the top of the hearth. ]
You see? [ She picks back up her partially carved piece of wood and her father's dagger and continues to carve out the statue's face. ]
voice;
Not even your mantle?
video;
Never my mantle.

[Audio]
What did Goldilocks ever do to you?
[Audio]
Goldi ...locks?
[Audio]
[Beat.]
It's a nickname.
[Audio]
[ Her cheeks relax and her eyes blink. She's curious as to why someone would receive a nickname like that. ] I do not know of this person you speak. I do not recognize anyone with the nickname "Goldilocks".
[Audio]
And that's strange - he looks an awful lot like the picture you just tossed in the fire.
[video]
[ She quickly flips the video on and grabs the device, bringing it close.
For some reason, she's eager. ]
Do you by chance speak of Prince Thor?
