[Bruce is sitting at the table in his house, which looks like this, and making himself a list of things he needs to do in the next few days. His glasses don't do much to hide the fact that he hasn't slept in a couple of weeks, save for a few times his body forced him to nap.]

For those who haven't met me, I'm Dr. Bruce Banner. Before the plague hit, I was working with a team of scientists to figure out how the pods functioned. Now I'd like to focus on increasing the ship's power supply, but I'm not sure who is still around to help, or if anyone else is interested.

I would also like to know if anyone would be interested in attending lectures on various topics relevant to some of the problems that we face here. Things like basic engineering, first aid, hydroponic gardening, chemical analysis, and really anything else you can think of that would be useful. The lectures would be aimed at those who haven't had much previous education in these areas.

I don't have a location or specific times planned out yet, I'm just gauging the level of interest at the moment.

[This part is delivered far more awkwardly.] I need to go away for a few days. Up in the mountains, I think, where I won't be able to hurt anyone. Company is probably a bad idea, but I thought you all should know where I'm going, at least.

[C'mon, you had to have seen that one coming. Pepper's lips are thinned and she shakes her head slightly as she studies him from a spare room that seems to be one part office to one part spare tinkering space for Tony.]

At least get a solid night's sleep before you go, or get Tony to fly you out there, or something. Right now you look like you'd pass out halfway up the hill.

[She softens with a small sigh.]

I have a feeling I can't talk you out of what I think you're planning, and I'm not really sure I should, but... you're not alone. OK?

I'm not sure why you feel the need to keep reminding me what my name is, my memory isn't that bad. [he's joking, of course.]

[but then, more seriously] I'm hoping this will help me get a solid night of sleep. But thanks, Pepper.

Emotional shorthand.

[Pepper's explanation is quick and deadpan, if not without some lingering concern in her eyes.]

Tony once claimed he'd started a comparative list, with soundclips, of the different forms of Tony I can produce and their respective meanings... but if you think this will help, then I'll make sure to have about five extra sandwiches waiting when you get back.

[Bruce just chuckles at her explanation, trying to ignore that lingering concern.]

Somehow, I'm not surprised. But I could probably use one or two of those sandwiches for the trip, actually. If you wouldn't mind.

[He probably needs more than one or two for a few days, but he doesn't know how long he'll be hulked out and he has no idea what the Hulk even eats. Not that he wants to know.]

I promise that I won't be on the edge of betraying the feminist sisterhood if I make you a few sandwiches.

[Not to mention Pepper is too fond of shoes to go barefoot, and is decidedly not pregnant. She dimples at him, a little relieved she can help even this much.]

Come by my apartment on your way out of town -- I'll have them waiting for you.

[And, knowing Pepper, probably a water canteen, trail food and some sort of tarp that can be used for shelter.]
