[The video is turned on but, should you be someone who does not believe in Jack Frost, the video shows nothing except the scenery. The camera doesn't really seem to move. Unless, of course, one knows and believes in the entity holding the camera!

However, should you be a believer in Jack Frost, you will see a boy about eighteen with a very pale face, bright blue eyes, and white hair. He's crouched somewhere, staring intently into the phone with such a desperately hopeful look on his face. After about a minute of nothing (or staring), text finally appears.]

Can anyone see me? I've been here for a few hours now, please tell me someone can see!

[There's another pause.]

Fine. Can anyone at least answer this? I'm looking for a couple people and they're pretty hard to miss. There's North, though you guys would may know his as ol' St. Nick, aka Santa. There's Tooth, definitely can't miss her. She's got feathers all over with fairy wings, aka the Tooth Fairy. Sandman is a little guy, but he generally floats around on a sand cloud and then there's the Easter Bunny. Over six feet tall, carries some boomerangs and egg bombs, complete with an Australian accent. If you've seen them or if any of you guys are reading this, let me know!

Please. Tell me if you see me. I gotta know.

[Briar's eyes widen]

You're a god?!

What?! No! Please, I'm far from a god and I'd rather not be one, thanks.

I'm actually a spirit, I make Winter happen.

[Briar looks rather relieved at that. He'd already met enough people who were utterly strange here, having gods just showing up to chat would be terrifying]

Are you like an elemental, then? [Evvy had talked to him about the volcano spirits she'd encountered. Maybe this Jack Frost was like them?] I don't get why all this beleving stuff means you can't be seen though. Why wouldn't I believe in you? You're obviously talking to me. I might as well just not believe in rocks, or trees.

Uh... sure?[Weren't those usually like. The ones who could control the elements though? As in, Earth, Air, Fire, Water, and all that jazz? Jack wasn't sure. Not many spirits liked him either, so.]Because you simply believe you're talking to someone named Jack Frost. You believe you're talking to a person, not the spirit of winter who brings the snow in every year and makes kids happy.

Trust me, it's... pretty complicating. I've had 300 years of dealing with this. Belief is a big deal when comes to people like me.

[Briar scratches his head] That sounds pretty confusing.

...And what does snow have to do with kids being happy?

You've never heard of a snow day?

[Briar gives Jack - well, his communicator - an odd look]

Yes, funnily enough I have heard that on some days, snow is a thing that happens.

...Yeah, I'll take that as a no.

Well then you do feel like explaining, or do you just like being all vague for fun?

Probably as fun as being invisible. A snow day is basically when it snows hard enough that the kids can't go to school, adults can't go to work (or they try to), so everyone basically gets a day off and have fun.

Why would all the kids be in schools? [Briar frowns] And why would not being able to get to work be fun? If people can't make money, they can't eat. That's not fun.

I do it for the kids mostly. The adults manage to find ways around it most of the time, so I think the ones that stay home are the ones that can afford it.

[Briar looks a bit dubious about that, but he'll roll with it.] What's the point though? Hardly any kids are in schools.

Maybe where you're from. But on Earth, practically every kid is in school.

Every kid? What about the ones that can't afford it?

The schools are free. That's what Jamie told me, anyway. They're open to the public and stuff. The only time you pay money if it's a private school or if it's college.

Free schools? [Briar whistles] Must be nice then, your world.

Well. It also depends on where in the world you are. Not all countries offer free education. And not all free education is good. Doesn't mean one day off will hurt though.

Well I suppose if you're getting it free, it won't. Unless the schools are what feeds kids too? [Briar gives his communicator with a questioning look]

I think Jamie called it recess. That's when they get a break for food. I'm pretty sure the parents give them some money if they don't pack a lunch so they can go buy some food.

[Briar snorted] So if they don't have parents, or can't afford it, they're out of luck then? Figures.

Not like I never saw them just bring their own lunch.

[Briar shrugged. That was what you had to do, wasn't it? Get your own lunch. If you were lucky enough to be able to get lunch.]

So with this believing thing - if just talking to you's not enough, then how do I actually see you?

Just. I dunno, believe that who you're talking to really is the Spirit of Winter, really. But I don't exist where you come from, so I guess I can see why it is hard for you to believe.

But it's really the same way you'd believe in a deity and all. Just believe that I really am here and I am who I say I am? Sorry, that's all I can give. Three hundreds and only now am I getting a few believers, so.

[Briar scratches his head] Well, I'll try. Though I've never really had had to think about believing in the gods or anything before. The gods are...well, they're the gods, you know?
