First Shot | Video
[After she'd gotten herself out of that stasis pod and dressed, holstered, and strapped up, Kerra Holt took a moment to have a look around. This was definitely not where she'd intended to wind up when she'd made that last jump. Hell, where was this? And...what freak had shoved her into a tube naked?
Of course, when Kerra found the commlink, she was definitely going to poke at it. And set off the video thing accidentally.]
Oh. OH! Hey. Video? That's...different.
[Not Sith-tech, unless it was from Calimondra. No way any of the others had that sort of thing. Or Republic make? Or...the Hutts. Either way, it was broadcasting.
Kriff. Broadcasting. That wasn't good. People could see her face. Well...time to put on a smile and ask some questions then, Kerra.]
Right. So. If you can hear this...I guess I'm the new girl around here. And I've obviously got a few questions for anyone with the inclination to answer. Starting with where the hell am I? What system? What Quadrant, even. I don't even know if I'm in the Core Worlds or out on the Outer Rim. Last I knew I was making a Hyperspace jump and now I'm here.
[And just to be safe...but polite at the same time, may as well give the other name.]
Oh, and the name's Mercy.

You've been in a Sith prison before? And you're still alive?
[Shaking away the multitude of awful thoughts which spring to mind at the very idea of that.]
My name's Jarael. I was on Taris before I was brought here. Where are you from?
no subject
[That's a relief...and...also a new worry]
I've been, and I've gotten out Jarael. [No need to say it was luck.]
Taris? I know that one. I'm from Aquilaris.
no subject
Doesn't everybody?
[Well, perhaps not people living under rocks. She nods.]
I've never been there.
[But then, there were many places she had never been. This wasn't exactly unusual.]
no subject
[Kerra chuckles]
So you're Republic, then. Military, Civilian? And...well...Aquilaris is basically just a fishing colony.
no subject
[Then again, she's not been talking to a lot of people. She isn't exactly hyper-sociable. She raises an eyebrow.]
I look like a soldier to you?
[With her patchy clothes and unkempt hair. Should she take that as a compliment? Probably not.]
Nice place then?
[Though she doesn't sound like she's interested, small and remote out-of-the-way places were Jarael's idea of a good time right now. Taris was getting way too political right now with all the crazy jedi goings on - even before she'd been brought here she had been thinking it might be time for them to move elsewhere. No harm in scouting out potential places now.]
no subject
[Kerra grins again, having pegged Jarael for someone who isn't stupid]
And yea, I think it's pretty nice. Better now that the Sith have left.
[Way, way better. Freeing it from their control had been a point of pride and a personal goal for her for over a decade. And with that accomplished, well that was a good feeling]
no subject
Yes, that's true I suppose. Rest assured though, I am no soldier. I'd like to stay as far away from the war as I can.
[She nods, and there's some sympathy in her expression.]
I can imagine so.
[Although she has never personally experienced quite the same thing, she knows what it's like to have your home invaded and be torn from it entirely. This whole experience was like a bad case of deja vu.]
no subject
[Her smile is rueful]
If you're Republic and not a soldier, then you're a civilian. Or a Jedi. I'm going to guess civilian.
[Those patchy clothes, and the general way she presents herself don't really scream "Jedi" to Kerra. But the Order is kinda stuffy]
Better off. It's become a bit of a staging ground for relief efforts for refugees fleeing Sith space. The Republic Navy finally got off their butts and sent a fleet.
no subject
Yes - most definitely not a jedi. Civilian is more or less it, yeah.
[She snorts.]
That was awfully nice of them. Still - it's good that people have a place to go. I, uh, hadn't realised there were that many refugees.
[Particularly from Sith space. Wouldn't most people have been fleeing Mandalorians?]
no subject
[Unless...this is another one of those situations like other people had brought up.]
What...year is it for you? I'm told there can be time-related...complications here, by a guy from Tanaab.
no subject
3963BBY* - what year is it where you are? I haven't heard of anything to that extent.
((*Naturally, she would not actually say this date. She would use her time period's equivalent of giving the date. But since I can't find what that actually is, I'll use this instead - presume she says the correct term. Apologies.))
no subject
Oh wow. That's...a long time ago. It's 1032BBY for me.
((Yea, there are not any other dates save the BBY one, don't apologize, I play Nomi Sunrider and have similar issues.))
no subject
That's not possible. People can't travel forwards in time. This is some sort of joke, and it is not funny.
[It was bad enough that she had been taken from her home and forced here - pretending people were from different times was ridiculous. And impossible.]
no subject
[Kerra sets her jaw stubbornly. This made as much sense to her as waking up here did.]
Look, I just woke up here. I'm not playing some elaborate prank on you. I'm here same as you, and I'm telling you I'm from 1032BBY*. I can show you the maker's mark on my blaster if you want, but that's all I got.
[Because she's definitely willing to accept the weird explanation over calling it impossible.]
no subject
No. It is much more possible for that to have occured than time travel.
[Gazing at Mercy impassively for a short while, Jarael will finally sigh, tone a little sarcastic.]
Sure, I'd love to see that.
[More concedingly though;]
I suppose it may be possible that I was taken and held in stasis for that length of time... but it's such a remote possibility, I just don't know...
[Looking a little pained at the thought, now. If that was the case, everyone she ever knew and loved was gone, and she would never have the chance to see them again.]
no subject
I don't know about this whole stasis thing. But I do know what time I'm from. And I'm not playing a joke on you.
[She stands up straight now, reholstering the gun and looking squarely at the other woman.]
I swear on my oath as a citizen of the Republic that I am not lying to you about this.
[As solemn an oath as 'Mercy' could give. Save admitting right out that she was a Jedi...which she didn't want to do over an open channel.]
no subject
If you say so. I don't know why you would joke about this, anyway. You were captured along with the rest of us, after all. What would be the point of causing more trouble?
[It's as much rationalising it for herself as it is a vague accusation. She couldn't be certain if this person was just messing around or not - but the fact was that they were both stuck in this place either way. And the 'why' of which was something she could empathise with.]
no subject
There isn't. I've been here less than an hour.
no subject
I've been here a few weeks. I wouldn't consider myself all that oriented to this place yet, but if you need something I can help you with just ask. That might not be much, though.
no subject
no subject
You certainly strike me as the sort of person who does.
[She just had that air about her. Of resilience. That was no doubt a good thing given their situation.]
no subject
[That cheeky grin returns. She likes you, you've got sass.]
Oh, right, one more thing. Anything I should not do? Cultural things to do with the locals that'll get me shot?
no subject
I wouldn't really know. I've been trying to keep my head down though - they don't apparently like people poking around, particularly near the dome.
no subject
[She flashes a cheeky grin]
Thanks though, for the answers.
ga, sorry for super late reply!
No, I don't know. I haven't spoken to many people.
Anytime.
[She doesn't mind you - you aren't as clueless as most people she meets.]
