[Video] Week 34 - Friday Evening

So about this fog...

[Hey guys, there's a redhead on your network looking magnificently scruffy. That is full Irish beard right there. Actually... that's way more than a week's growth for those of you that knew he was leaving. He's currently sprawled out on the stone floor of his cavern hideaway, holding his arm up so the video's looking down on him.]

I was hoping to make it back into town today but apparently Verdana had other ideas. [And there's a knowing smirk that comes with that because he at least has spent most of the last weeks (as far as he knows) talking to her.]

So, I don't know when I'm going to be able to get back but... [His free hand comes up to thread through his shaggy crimson curls.] Anyone out there good with a pair of scissors?

As soon as this damn fog clears we need to go hunting... Oberon is bored out of his mind and we both need to stretch our legs. You in?

[For an instant, Lanfear almost passes over this broadcast like she had others. But beard reminded her of that Aybara boy, one of Al'Thor's companions though, and that sent up enough of a reminder that she was so very, very far away from home. Alone. And without Lews Therin or even the boy he'd been reborn as.

And that, at least, gave her a reason to at least respond in a somewhat unsteady voice.]

The fog is...rather thick. I've seen nothing like it before, ever. Stay indoors, I've already seen one woman driven mad by it's touch.

Yeah I got the impression that it was not something to mess around with. Considering this planet's history I can only guess at what's out there.

[And there's a muttered grumble following it, something that might include "bullshit" but he keeps it quiet enough that it's obviously not meant for her. The damage these people have put the planet through still angers him, especially now after hearing from Verdana herself exactly what was done to her.]

Does it have something to do with the war? I merely saw it and decided perhaps it would be best to remain indoors.

[She recovers from the momentary start, at least, that odd manic moment passing just as suddenly as it came. Now back to the calm, cool, scholar's mask.]

I’m guessing it does. They pulled out all the stops on chemical warfare from what I can tell. It’s impossible to say exactly what’s in it or the concentrations ‘cause I’m sure it varies depending on where you are in it. I bet even the scientists here would be hard pressed to identify it with much precision.

[Chemical warfare. Aginor's department, something she never saw the use of. Despoiling the land one intended to rule had no purpose. She sniffs, indicating her distaste of the idea]

Well, chemical concoctions can have strange mixtures, yes. I know little of the war, so far. But the fog was thoroughly disturbing. I know I will be trying to protect my home from the next patch.

From what I understand it was quite the devastating event. I’ve never seen warfare on such a large scale before. Kingdoms and countries… even the World Wars but… entire planets against each other? [He shakes his head a little, obviously disapproving. But he still felt wars should be fought with swords and shields or maybe guns, things that damage the foolish humans fighting in a war and not the land they fight on.]

I imagine a lot of people are going to want to enforce their dwellings to keep stuff like that out. Might be hard, though, given the state of the city.

That...is a disturbing thought, yes. But men always find inventive ways to kill each other. It's a little sad.

[She sounds disgusted, and...for once it's not an act. For all her evils, Lanfear wasn't terribly fond of killing unnecessarily.]

They do. [There’s more pity in his voice than disgust, though there was a small thread of that as well. Hypocritical though it was. He had been part of enough wars in his time. It was just how he was, a warrior at heart and he’d long ago decided that if he could not fight for his fair Ireland he would fight elsewhere in her honor.] Honestly, with how advanced the rest of the tech is around here I’m amazed things aren’t worse.

I'm afraid I am new to Verdana. I know little of the past or the technology here so I do not understand your meaning. What sort of machines did this?

[He sighs and shakes his head a little, his expression slightly pained. Really, he'd prefer not to get into the details of the poor plant's misfortunes.]

I haven't been here too long myself, just a couple months but... [He snorts softly, derisive.] Lets just say the people here have abused their planet beyond all endurance. It's a slow process but she's dying.

Oh, I could tell that just from the sky. There are rips in the Pattern here. It's a miracle that it's holding together here at all.

[And she really, really wants to leave.]

The Pattern? [That's certainly a phrase he hasn't heard before.] Are you talking science or magic? I've run into a bunch of each and I don't think I've understood any of it.

[Entirely untrue but she doesn't need to know that.]
