[With Atticus' Irish up, anger already hot and Oberon just as angry and afraid by what might have happened to his friend the hound actually growls at Genesis when she reaches for, as far as he can tell, Atticus. It's enough to have Atticus lifting his hand and settling it comfortingly on his friend's back, eyes closing for a moment as he talks to his hound, reminding him that things may not work the same way here and, in turn, reminding himself of it.
