I've been hunting [there's a rustle] though most of the game I was able to obtain is feathered, and bipedal with a counterbalancing tail. [They are dinosaurs. He caught small(ish) dinosaurs.] Along with an extremely large cat that attempted to attack me. Though I'm reasonably sure that these creatures were once native to Earth but are extinct as I know them. I even happened across a much smaller one.
[There is a little mewling noise. It doesn't sound much larger than a kitten.] Unusual, that they exist here, but I've not seen anything that didn't originate on Earth yet. At least to my knowledge. [And now he's curious.]
Who here isn't native to Earth? Even if their founding stock came from Earth, whose species or subspecies didn't evolve or was created there specifically?

[There are any number of matters irritating Gaheris Rhade at the moment. For one, he is still on an unfamiliar alien planet without invitation or consent and is likely the subject of native resentment thanks to being located here, which is not conducive to ultimate success. He's been witness to an unprovoked attack. He despises the limiting collars that have been placed on people, and believes it to be a sign of technological dependency and possible weakness on the parts of their enemies that is unfortunately effective because none of the people he knows to be collared have had theirs removed. And now that his captain is here, his captain is not only not congruent with his time period but he is somehow from 300 years in the future after Rhade's betrayal and what he assumes to be death at the hands of the Systems Commonwealth (because that was how that would have worked, certainly). And said captain seems oddly tolerant of his former first officer aside from this?
He also knows he's not as irritated as he should be because of some outside influence that he can't detect, but had to be informed of.
So he's turned himself back towards the practical; immediate needs such as more clean clothes, pots and pants of some sort, soap and other especially essential items. Because he is vaguely stubbly and his hair is a bit more tossled and flat laying than usual he's just going to make this all his messages audio.]
I'm going to go Edmund's shop to see about some trading, sir.
As there's a storm coming I'm going to start investigating some of the abandoned homes for a more comfortable sleeping location. I heard mention of a Southern City, as well. When the storm passes I request permission to visit it and make inquiries into the history of the area as well as observe how permeable the dome is.
[Formality makes this easy, right? Because humans can't be friends after something like that, though Nietzscheans expect treachery always. So he'll just wait for approval or ideas, because right now he's High Guard, and he'd rather like to avoid becoming dead. He just needs to work out how, if Dylan still exists.]

Locked--Audio
What state is the Andromeda in? It is my intention that she will be capable of resisting and that the crew will be sufficiently prepared, but if the Commonwealth fell-
[He cuts off.]
Locked--Audio
Rommie made it through with me. But it hasn't been easy on her. She lost her entire crew, all the other ships are either destroyed or insane. She's strong, though.
[Then he thinks about what Rhade said.]
Sufficiently prepared? Prepared for what, to be boarded and captured by Nietzscheans?
Locked--Audio
No. Sufficiently trained to resist. I don't suppose it matters if I change my mind about what's going to happen, but I was curious if she was there [for you].
Locked--Audio
[It sounds like irrational self-sabotage. Like reverse cheating.]
I don't understand you sometimes.
Locked--Audio
[This is not the same discussion, but he's hoping he can distract Dylan and keep him from pursuing this discussion, because his reasons for self sabotage he doesn't consider irrational]
Locked--Audio
Do you want to talk about it further? Do you want to explain why you were plotting to shoot me one minute and training the crew to stop you the next?
Locked--Audio
After I've returned. [And possibly have gotten myself thoroughly sauced.]
Locked--Audio
I'll help you gather up supplies for your trip. [This is his way of dropping that topic for now and trying to resume a normal pattern of interaction.]

[And later, quite a bit later, Dylan will end up with a slightly tipsy Nietzschean padding quite successfully quietly into the room, trying to not wake Dylan if he's there. Because maybe he forgot. Or he's sleeping.]

Slowwwwly he oozes onto his side of the old bed, trying not to dislodge him from his position on his side with the way his hand and knee press down into the center.]

But he really takes a note that he looks more worn, now. In his face, too. He's proud of him for surviving, no matter what it was that was done to him.
The hand that he intends for Dylan's hair stops short of his cheek, and then he barely doesn't rest it on his shoulder. Nietzsche warns people of the horrors of alcoholic consumption- of course, Nietzsche was a lightweight, and Rhade had to drink a medicine cabinet's worth to get to this point. He's still sober enough that he doesn't touch him, and does his very level best to lay down with his back to him without disrupting the man from his sleep.
Once Dylan seems to be sleeping more soundly, he'll take off his boots. So he lays awake with his eyes closed and listens to his heartbeat.]

But eventually he drifts back into a more sound slumber, not realizing how tempted Gaheris had been to touch him.]

He'll also try not to ooze against the back behind him to sap heat. This probably won't be successful as he'd like.]

No, warm thing. Stay right here.]
[Spam]
Gahaaa. [Mumble. There's no answer so he tries again.]
Gaheris.

[Dylan's not entirely sure himself whether this is actually a problem or not, but he feels that Gaheris ought to be informed.]
[Spam]
[As if he's arguing the point. He's still mostly asleep, and Dylan's talking at him, so obviously it should mean one thing.] ...Warm [Such an accusation.]
[Spam]
Sorry...do better next time. [He'd done his bit by informing Gaheris, who was not at fault because of...logic. So back to sleep.]
