Has anyone seen a woman named Trance appear anywhere? She just...disappeared, right in front of me! I don't know if she can magic to other places or anything, but I don't think she meant to do...whatever she just did.

[Shepard is pretty obviously riding her dinosaur and the video is shaking in correlation with that. She frowns at the screen, her eyes slightly narrowed]

That's the woman who threw fire towards the Authorities the night we all showed back up, isn't it?

What happened, exactly? I'm on patrol right now, I can keep an eye out if she... relocated herself.

That's her.

And I don't know! She was talking a bit strange, and then she clipped a branch of of her shakkan tree. And then it was like she just...winked out of existence. It wasn't actually magic, though. Leastaways, if it was magic, it was the kind of magic that could hide itself.

It wasn't anything like a rift? She just... disappeared?

[Technically speaking Shepard is as close to a "space wizard" as you can get in her reality, but there is science backing up her ability to manipulate dark energy. People disappearing just isn't possible.]

The was a flash of light, maybe? But no rift. I've seen someone else do a disappearing-and-reappearing trick too once, but it didn't look like that.

She disappeared as fast as you could click your fingers - of course I didn't! I'm not a seer, I can't tell what she's going to do before she even does it!

As of a few minutes ago, she is. Did you ever see her do anything like that? Is she meant to be able to do that?

I don't know much about what she can do. We didn't have time to sit down and discuss abilities.

[Briar sighs] So much for that. If we at least knew whether she could do something like that...it's not like she'd be the first. That teacher of yours that was here - I saw him just magic himself in front of me once. What was that spell called again?

Apparating. Most adults know it at home, so it could be something like that.

Maybe. [Briar paused for a moment, biting his lip] Still...whatever it was, it didn't seem like she meant to do it...

Maybe she stumbled on something like a Portkey.

Portkey? What's that?

They're objects to transport people from one place to another. We use them when there are large groups traveling, especially if a lot of them are going to be underage.

Could shakkans be portkeys? She did clip a branch off of hers right before it happened...

Just about anything can be. We usually use day to day objects.
